Just drove my C400 across country
Took 6 days and drove drove from NYC to Vancouver ,Canada. Drive was great, car definitely performs a bit differently with 4 people and a weighted trunk but definitely was a pleasure. Average speed 59mph(includes a couple city visits) 23.5mpg over approx 3,200miles. Encountered everything from snow and ice in South Dakota to 60 degrees in Washington, car handled everything great.

Mercedes C300, BMW X5
We drove 2.2k miles only going to Arizona and circle around recently. 3.2k mile probably means you were just got there and has not head back. Is that right?
Our C300 averaged 29.78 miles per gallon for the entire trip. Yours seem very low. I guess there must be a lot of mountain drive or winter fuel in effect. I know C300 is more efficient. The EPA rating does not suggest such a large difference. What happened? Was it due to snow tire or winter fuel?

New car, 4 people, full trunk could be it. It'll loosen up up a bit......,

These are the exact final stats.
3,374miles
57:16hrs driving
58mph average speed
23.5mpg
So my guess on the low gas mileage has a lot to do with the city stops with bumper to bumper traffic. The serious changes in elevation carving through the mountains. The extremely packed trunk and 4 people in the car. Plus let's just say I have a lead foot on those straight-a-ways. Top speed reached was 121mph.

Car felt secure on the straight away with a smooth road but only hit the speed for a couple seconds then backed off. Full load and all made me not want to push it.
