LEASE: Buy Prepaid Maintenance or NOT?
I just joined the forum and this is my first post.
I am about to lease a new C300 tomorrow. Should I purchase the prepaid maintenance?
Can I take my car to individual to perform maintenance? Not sure if it's allowed by Mercedes.
I saw a few deals on the forums.
"$1275 for the 4yr/40k miles maintenance" "$19/mo. 36 mo. $750"
"4 yrs/40k miles pre-paid maintenance plan. Residualized across my lease, I'm paying $550 (40% of 1375)"
My dealer gave me $1175 for 3yr/30k miles maintenance, residualized $720 across three years. It's BAD compared to the above two...
Thank you!

I'm confused, if you're putting 10k down on a lease you would have gotten a discount off msrp. So possible he is asking about that, and what price point would be fair for the maintenance warranty. So if you got a great discount to msrp (15%)? Then I would be ok in adding the cost to the lease contract and still have a good deal. maybe that's why he ask. Now what he is selling to you for $1175 I was offer $585 at signing. So hold out for the best deal you can. And I actual I didn't get it at all. We have certified MB shop that does A service for $165 and B for $225, which is all that is required to stay under warranty. Question what is the residual on C300?

I will take my car to INDY other than mercedes dealership. My local dealership charged $250 for A service and $450 for B service.
My Purchasing price on a MSRP 56700 vehicle is $50296. (11% off). I think I could've asked for a bit lower, but I think the deal is acceptable and I don't want to bargin anymore... Will sign paper tomorrow

I think you should consider your lease term, and your anticipated mileage use. The service intervals are so long now, you may not get further than a B service over your term. Mercedes offered prepaid service can be performed at any authorized MB service center, ie. dealership. You cannot take it to a independent. My experience is that the residualized price is less than the flat out purchase price of the same prepaid service.
Good luck and Congratulations on your new C!

And there are several certified MB service center in SoCal. Usual price for A 10k service is $165, and the B 20k is $225. Which is all the OP would legally need done on a 30k mile lease. Why pay almost $1200 for something that out of pocket is at best $400 buck over three years. I have never finance a maintenance warranty, if you are very worried put another $40 away every month for contingency. But these are very well made car. And if a catastrophic engine or transmission breaks down occurs, it is cover anyway.

I should clarify; if the OP is referring to the Mercedes Benz Premiere Prepaid Service offered by MBUSA, then you are in fact pre-purchasing your Factory Service to be performed by any MB Service Center with OEM parts and fills. This is the new version of MBUSA Star Service and rolled out on MY15 cars. As I originally posted, over the usual leasing term mileages, I have found that it residualized for less than my local quality independents for the same services. (NorCAL)
