How to unstuck touchpad? Really hate the build quality of my C300.
Is there a way to unstick touchpad? Mine is stuck and can't be used for anything. Occasionally I am able to press the center button which brings little pop-up Menu on the screen to change radio station or track. I haven't visited dealer since I took the delivery on 03/26/15. I have little over 3k miles on August 2014 build. Immediately after getting the car touchpad used to be in this stuck state but then every once in a while it would start working on its own. As far as I can remember it hasn't worked for at least for month and a half. This morning while watching Wimbledon on ESPN I saw new C class commercial at least 2-3 times specifically commercial starts with the stupid touchpad and thought it would be nice to have this thing working. I think I posted on some other thread here on MBworld that couple weeks after getting the car I was showing my C300 to a coworker and this touchpad thing didn't work, little embarrassing but there are more issues to worry about on this car so I just ignored. Some type of clicking sound every morning for first 7-10 minutes driving, excessive Wind noise, unpredictable keyless entry, door handle LEDs getting dimmer every day, non-working touchpad. I am sure Mb-Tex will bleed next winter here in northeast, by the time I got the car in end of March weather wasn't cold and I highly doubt dealer did anything while car was sitting on the lot for 4-5 months to address MB-Tex issue. I am so glad I a leasing this thing (first time lessee). I really like the exterior and interior design of new C but if I have to do this all over again I would do 428i Gran Coupe which was my other choice I hate the poor quality control on this car.

I would take it back and just leave it there, try to get out of the lease because if you're not happy with the car; you're not happy with the car..........MB has to get this through their head!

There is a software update to fix this issue
I had the same exact issue. I realized that the touchpad was working early in the morning but it stopped working if I start any other time of the day. The dealer found a software update to fix this issue. I no longer have this issue 😊

No... far better to bugger about with it achieve nothing and then post on the forum about something not working for months that you can't be arsed taking to the dealer to remedy.. (aimed at OP)..
If one of the buttons has gotten stuck down as mine did once, a simple wiggle can release it and all is good.... it has not re-occured in my case and did receive a software update at alater date anyway.
If the pad if not responsive at al,l then a reset by pressing and holding the disc eject button may reset it and all may be well.
If the reset either does not cure or it re-occurs after a reset then yes of course the dealer is the logical next step.... some have had software, some received replacement units.. what you get is unknown and doesn't matter as long as its fixed...

Edit: I def think this is a software problem, it seems that the system restarted and the touch pad lock was released (in the morning when I restarted the car). Note: cd eject button must be pressed until the system reboots.

Why does it seem some owners are so averse to taking their cars to the dealership for FREE warranty work?
You paid all this money for your car, so why not go get it fixed on Mercedes tab?

More often than not, the dealership will end up making things worse, or stuffing up on other random things, well that is the case in Australia, dealerships are known for their incompetence and car manufacturers are very strict on any warranty claim.

I had an issue with this as well. Mercedes issued a software update to fix this, but my car still had issues. Got the whole COMAND touchpad replaced under warranty by the dealer. Works great now. And it's glossy, shiny, and new.

It magically started working this morning.. right when I was about to take it in for repairs.. pls explain what you mean by wiggle? What does the cd eject button do (reset what)? Thank you.

Re wiggling, the buttons behind the mouse pad have a little side to side play, when I tried to move them side to side the button released from its stuck down position... Hasn't recurred...

When I told them that the symbol didn't match the function, and basically this was done at Mercedes, the guy told me that the other option was to put back the older one that got stuck sometimes.
i hope this answers why do the people are reluctant to bring the car to the dealer sometimes even in warranty.
