W205 C200 petrol loaner...
So the S205 is in for its niggles to be looked at today/tomorrow. I've been given the saloon version of the car, same engine and gearbox as my loaner.
First observations, tighter suspension (spring) to be expected, actually makes it a bit more fun. Its the SE basic entry level car with 17" wheels which help balance the ride, even if they look like milk bottle tops for wheels. The engine is far more powerful than mine, the car really shifts, this has to be either because its run in more, or there's an issue with mine. The car gets better fuel mileage too. It does however have the exact same level of wind noise on the motorway and the D2 to D3 rough shifting, which is interesting.

Mine is just over 2000 miles, the loaner 3500. However I suspect the loaner has been thrashed (therefore run in a lot more). Having said that, it really does move compared to mine. MPG is circa 8mpg better even driving normally (where I baby mine to get good MPG). Odd.

I got 43mpg travelling up Manchester using A roads last week with just normal driving. I normally get around about 30-36mpg around town.

Another interesting thing I found on the loaner today was that it has the window rattle complained of by others here.

I've done about 5000 miles and it's averaged 29.1mpg. I don't fanny around, but when I do the mpg doesn't improve much. A run out on motorways will see 40mpg though. Roads round here are either in town or twisty and hilly so good mpg is hard to get.

My car is back...
... on the plus side, now I've driven the entry version of this car (the loaner) I realise how lovely mine is.

I saw a wagon today for the first time IRL and that's a slick looking machine. I've never been a wagon fan but the c class wagon could (almost) make me a convert.
