C300 original oil
1) Does MB use a special oil to help break-in an engine when the car is first delivered to the purchaser?
2) Since I only use the C300 for about 7,000 miles a year is it best to use the calendar or wait the few extra months for the 10,000 miles before the first service?

No, there is no "baby oil" used in the C300 and apparently no break-in period. I believe when you read the literature its the calendar time or 10,000 miles, "whichever comes first" but you should double check me on that.

They do use a Shell break in oil in most plants. Normally I would say on no account change the break in oil early. These engine use Alusil bores with MOS2 coated rings which is a difficult break in regime. If you are doing a lot of stop start mileage it is probably OK to change oil at 7000 miles as long as you are not using any oil. My preference is to do 10K without a change but I don't want you to experience warranty issues for not doing a scheduled change (1 year or 10K miles)
