C400/C450 Performance Exhausts
Debating between a 340xi and C450 as we speak. Going to both dealers over the course of this next week.
I leaning heavily towards the C450 however I cannot understand why there is ecu tunes from renntech and others but there is no catless downpipes or any other exhaust mods out there that I have seen?
I found a Meisterschaft exhaust on Vivid racing but have not seen or heard of anyone actually buying one. I always thought they were BMW specialists anyways? I really think that the sound of a C400/450 would sound amaze ***** opened up bit. A lot better than an inline for sure!
Does anyone have and knowledge of anything coming down the line? Or has anyone here bought the Meisterschaft exhaust or has done anything custom?
Cheers

Moneybags: just get both with your moneybags

The ECU "plug" is cool and all but I'm sure we all already knew about ECU flashes. What baffles me is how on the bimmer forums there's endless discussion on exhaust and engine performance parts, and even though the c class is one of the highest selling production cars merc sells there's absolutely jack!
Lol and the reason I have m0neybags is because I don't do silly things like "buy both". Lol if I was that loose with my cash flow I'd get an AMG GT AND cal it a day lol!
Seriously though no one has got anything?

Any kind of idea what to expect in terms of gains of running a relatively straight piped exhaust with a tune? I'm thinking Meistershacft (spelling?) with an OE tuning tune...

Upgrading the the C450 exhaust is only going to make it louder. The "character" of the exhaust is already great. Some guys want more volume, but I'm not convinced that enough people want that increase to make it worthwhile for more companies to jump in. Also, with the short lifespan of the C400 and the uncertainty around the future config of the C450/C43/Cwhatev....this seems like an risky business decision. If I were in the aftermarket business, I would not be throwing a lot of R&D resources down this path until it was clear that MB was committed to standardizing this trim level on the C class. A smart business plan would focus on mods for the general C-class since we know it will remain unchanged for a while to come.
I think the low hanging fruit for mods on the C450 are tuning/rims/tint, all the usual stuff.

Better than an inline 6? I think that's wrong. Generally speaking, an inline 6 is superior to a V6 in every way, sound included. The AMG guys have done quite a bit of tricks to make the V6 sound ok, but inline 6 are usually way smother, torquier and sound better. Why do you think Mercedes is reverting to inline 6? The only advantage I can think of, that a V engine have over a inline engine is packaging. Being more compact, it can easily be used in small FWD cars, economies of scale make it way cheaper to produce.

I dunno...the v6 in my old z32 twin turbo 300zx sounded fantastic. Granted, it had no cats and a B&B exhaust on it, but it sure sounded mean.
