W205 C220D AMG Line
2015 vs 2016, Bluetec vs "D"...
Hi All,
A first time poster here... due to join the club in 24 hours or so when I pick up my W205 C220D AMG Line tomorrow... come to think of it, it's due to be arriving at the dealership as I type this...
A couple of questions... arguably too late to be asking now but having read a few threads that have set me thinking, it'll drive me nuts if I don't ask them...
1. What is the difference between the 2015 and 2016 W205 (UK)? According to Mercedes Me, my W205 is MY 2016 (a relief, given that my car was available from Dealer stock), but i'd like to understand the differences. Particularly following a read through the 2016 thread a few below this one...
2. Whilst sorting insurance, I was asked whether my vehicle was a C220D, or a C220 Bluetec... I didn't realise there was a difference. According to my paperwork, mine is a C220D but again, i'd like to know what difference there is (if any!)...

When The W205 originally came out (MY15), Mercedes decided to go away from the Diesel badge and named them Bluetec.
When the made the changes to create the (MY16), they rebadged the car again and went back to 'D'.
There are about 10 different 220 options with some insurance companies in the UK which makes it nigh on impossible to dial in on the correct one.
As for the changes, if you do a search, there was a thread a couple of months a go that went through all of the differences

Thanks for the replies
It did become evident that there were more than a handful of C220 variants when sorting insurance. I did get confirmation on the exact model from the dealer, I didn't realise that the "Bluetec" branding was being phased out.

So in the past, bluetec meant that the car had the cleaner Urea system. Does that mean the D models have them too? I guess they are doing this because the plug in models are now "e" as in C350e, S500e, so they wanted the diesels to be "d"

C220d Avantgarde
The 220d stil has the Ureum (AdBlue) additive. The d is indeed just the new naming convention.

2016, MB C220 AMG S205 4Matic
On my "old" S205 C220 Bluetec i covered 16300km before I changed it for a new one, without having to top it up. But the new one, a 2016 C220 D, has a new feature where I can see how much Adblue is left, how full the tank is and how many KM it will go before I need to top it up. Pretty nice feature. Its in the menus of the smaller screen in the dash.

Thanks for all the replies, this is the first AdBlue car I've had, and the salesman didn't mention it, so it was a bit of a surprise to see two filling caps when I looked.

Another reason why I went back to petrol.
Question. So if the AdBlue is topped up at every service and the car has a service plan I guess there is no charge but if the car needs a top up between services does MB then charge and if they do how much?

Marcedes Benz C Class C220. Blutec
Not ULEZ compliant,
I have the same one, however I am surprised to know that this particular variant I.e., c220 blutec isn’t ULEZ compliant. It’s EURO 5b. Any note on this? And how’s MPG?
