There are two types of wind noise ... the normal outside wind noise that is heard in almost every car, and the sound of the wind actually penetrating the door and/or window seals.

I've had plenty of driving time in three different 2015 C-Class sedans, and none have exhibited wind coming through the seals. Having said that, none of the cars have been exceptionally quiet either. There is an obvious amount of tire, road, and wind noise that can be heard in the car ... but nothing is actually getting through the seals, even if your ear is by the windows. This seems to be the nature of the car, and perhaps one of the issues with using lightweight materials in an effort to keep the weight down.

Wind getting past the seals is a defect, and a problem many have reported. Even after over a year of production, the issue has not yet been dealt with in a satisfactory manner. Hopefully, with more time, MB will have a definitive answer to what is really going on with those affected cars.

I have recently had plenty of time in other late model cars. A BMW 7 series was quieter, but not dramatically so. I just spent several hours in a brand new 2015 Toyota Highlander SUV that was fully loaded. The amount of wind noise in that vehicle was really bad, and got very annoying quickly. I asked the owner about it, and he said he didn't really notice it. As manufacturers move towards lighter weight materials and less insulation, I think this is an issue that will become more common.

A properly built C-Class should not suffer from wind penetration. Personally, I don't think acoustic glass is the solution. Eventually, cars suffering from this problem will, I believe, have to have new seals installed.

They just changed the front side windows for me. They did not bother to trough the whole procedure. I can see still that my left mirror is not parallel as it should be. I hope my next W205 does not have these problems. I ordered the car with acoustic front windows.

Is the difference in window tint as noticeable as the pics posted earlier?

I did not compare those two. I have not noticed a change in the tint. You may have different tint than we here in Europe.

Do they change the windows in the doors only, or the frontwindow as well?

I think just looking at the front vs the back windows will show any differences.

They changed only the side front windows as stated in the bulletin.
Yes, it is a huge difference between the front and back windows, since I have tinted rear windows.

Of course they only changed the fronts which is why I asked if anyone can say they still match the tint of the factory rears windows. Naturally if you have tinted your windows then you cant make the comparison.

I had my car in for a few days last month at a dealership. I think they just replaced the door seal - the reason I've come to this conclusion is that the door really needs a hard slam to close properly. They didn't fit acoustic glass.

There is still some wind noise, even when driving at low speed, but it's much better than before. I'm just hoping the seal doesn't significantly degrade over time.

They also updated the s/w for the keyless go so no more cricket chirping

My dealer hasn't been able to get a hold of any acoustic glass packs for the past month. They went through every step of the bulletin, and then made the glass request. Sounds like it might take a while.

Just checked in with my dealer today after seeing this (Downtown LA Motors). They said they were made aware of this bulletin just last week but because of the holidays, parts will be backordered until next year. My car is on list to get the part but ETA is March 2016. -_-

Was there an official USA or North America bulletin issued or are they just aware of the German one?

Has anyone in the US checked with a pro-shop specialized in preparing drag cars? These folks are experts in aerodynamics and finding/sealing leaks.

I'm about to take my 2015 in for 12 month service. I live in the San Francisco Bay area. I plan to bring up the noise issue again. In the past there was no bulletin so my dealer (RAB in San Rafael) did the old they-all-sound-that-way BS and did nothing. This time, I would like to have a service bulletin to point to. Is there a US version of the German service bulletin? Has anyone in the US had any success getting your dealership to follow the German one? Did it help with the wind noise? Thanks!

....
A few days ago, I was at my dealer for an unrelated (very minor) item. My service advisor brought up my previous complaint about wind noise and told me that they had not forgotten about it. He said that the service foreman had some information for me. The service foreman said that MB was has acknowledged the problem and they were working on a new TSB. He said, "The problem seem to be the glass." He added that the cure will probably be a package of seals. I interpreted his use of the word "glass" as meaning that too much noise was getting through the window assembly as a whole, not through the glass itself. Nor was (as some have suggested here) some airflow problem was creating an unusual amount of noise outside the car. He had no time frame and said that my service advisor would call me.

P.S. on 01/12/15: Other owners are getting new glass. My service foreman seemed to be talking about new seals. I will try to resolve this, but I may have to wait until my "A" service in Feb.

My service advisor in Michigan called me on December 28th to let me know that my acoustic glass had arrived. It was installed on the 30th. Covered by the factory warranty, without the slightest hint of pushback.

The acoustic glass stock in the U.S. seems to be very low - they had to order a replacement piece when the passenger side didn't fit right, and there was exactly one replacement available in the entire country.

I've noticed an improvement, although it definitely seems to be a matter of obscuring the outside noise, rather than eliminating the cause of the noise.

Anyway, I'd say it's just a matter of time + component service department for everyone who's still waiting in the U.S.

Do you have standard tint on your windows and do the replacements match?
