That would make sense, since 14mm is the half inch of extra wheel width. Just wondering if anyone has tried getting an extra half inch of clearance by rolling the fender.

The above pictured method is just folding back the inner flange.
What you're thinking of is "pulling the fender" which would consist of physically widening the car.
Rolling fenders only gives you more clearance, not actually widening the fenders.
If that crude description makes sense.

Back in the 90's when I worked for Lorinser there was a fender spacer kit we had to do on the W140 with the 20x9.5 Lorinser D93, and it was a concept also being used by AMG on the W124 and W201. You would remove the bolts that keep the fender attached and the lower points and pull the fender away and slip in this spacer and then install the longer bolts...this would keep the fender pulled out a little bit for the more aggressive wheel application.
Not really sure if the mounting points on the new cars would accept this concept, but it was a useful option back in the old days!
Thanks for letting me show my age today! LOL!

You'd roll the inner flange flat. Shouldn't change the outward appearance. Doesn't the camber help with clearance when the suspension is compressed as well? Just seems like an extra half inch of wiggle room would open up a lot of options for you guys.

There are two different types of "rolling" fenders.

Oh you're talking about the inside lip.
But that wouldn't help from what I can see. I have 15mm spacers in the back. I tested them up front just to see and the wheel stuck out past the fender by about 5-6mm. Rolling that inner lip would be meaningless.

rolling the fenders helps gain tire clearance.
Another option would be to dial in some camber - which would naturally occur when lowering the car.
5-6mm can be gained by lowering and adjustment. much more than that, not really (unless were talking slammed).

On a 450...never going to happen! Whatever you do, Do not mount tires on the rims till fit checking on the car...or you will not be able to return the wheels.
This stupid Control arm issue is the biggest stumbling block to fitting wheels on the 450, anything larger than a 8.0 inch wide wheel is not going to fit.
If someone is selling you wheels that are 8.5 or 9.0 for the front a C450, that means that they have only fit wheels on a C400 and have no clue that the car has a larger control arm and does not wear the C63 fenders.
Amazing how long this thread has become, and yet people still keep trying to find a way to fit the wrong size wheels!
The 450 has unfortunately become the Unicorn of fitting wheels!
Good luck!!!

Since an 8.5" spaced out to barely clear the steering arm sticks 1/4" past the fender, your 9" is going to stick out 3/4" past the fender which will pit the shoulder of the tire into the fender. How do you imagine that this is this going to work?

You do remember that the wheels camber and the fender has plenty of height. It will fit snug trust me. I've seen 9.5 on c63 already klassenid said they can for 19x9 19x10 no problem. I'm inly goin .5 larger if they don't fit I'll wide body. Which I'm already in the work with.

I think many here are wanting to find wheels that fit without having to do extreme modifications to their car, but I am sure everyone will be eager to see how your car turns out...I will be interested to see how it comes out, look forward to seeing it.

Going to definitely require doing the wide fender modification, the C63 is wider, and longer than the C450.

I'm not so much worried about the front when i fitted them last week the only thing they hit was the caliper but a 3mm spacer will work great. Didn't look like it would have a problem fitting the wheel. The c63 fender is maybe 1/2 a inch wider at most but will see his weekend. Either way them wheels are going on!!
