Parking sensors beeping too close
Hi,
I have my C200 with parking assistant system. But I have the feeling that compared with other brands, the system starts to beep when is already too late. Isn't possible to adjust the sensibility of the system?

I have the same complaint. Implementation of the parking sensors sucks big time. The Volvo implementation was much more user friendly and reliable IMHO.
No adjustment possible according to the dealer.

Indeed. It's amazing how they didn't evolved on the sensores. We have automatic parking, but they didn't even made a drawing on the screen like Audi. That's a very weak point of Mercedes they need to work on....

I'm used to it and use all read outs appropriately.
My other half though uses my car less and less saying its a hatefully badly designed car for things like this. The column shift is hated, the non beeping until nearly hitting something sensors, even cruise that isn't distronic as standard like most cars now. Also not being able to see if the stalk is in cruise or speed limit as the steering wheel is in the way means you can engage speed limit at high speed putting the car into severe deceleration when you meant to hit resume in cruise mode (this among all I get nagged about as health and safety issue). The distance lamps being at the top of the binnacle display being obscured by the wheel. Having to dip your head to see the rear distance lamps in the rear view mirror.

The 360 camera that comes with PA is a much more useful parking aide than the sensors. I toggle it on forward view whenever I'm in a lot with curb stops since they're so low the sensors can't pick them up anyway. Tore the front cover off my S Class on one not long ago. Not pretty.
My wife's Audi has a cam and sensors and she still managed to back into our mailbox. The post was too narrow to return the radar signal.
Do the non PA equipped cars still get the progressive proximity display on the dash and warning beeps or no?

I rely more on the front/rear indicator (expressed in amber bars, then two reds). intermittent beeps on one red (pip,pip,pip,...), two reds and the beeps become continuous (peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep).
I find it very accurate when parking in the street, but the camera does a better job in parking lots. Well, you get used to it eventually!
Keep the sensors spotless as they tend to go haywire otherwise.

Based on my previous Volvo, the audio alert would be much more effective if a slow beep started in the amber bars and increases in rate as you approached the first red bar and then solid tone (different pitch front/rear) as you got the second red bar.
Last place I want to be looking while maneuvering in tight quarters is heads down at a display through the steering wheel.

I always park backwards very close along a fence. My previous Ford beeped all the way along the fence. Now it only beeps when i get too close.
I agree with all of you about the position of the bars for the front sensors. It would have been better if they would be shown large on the top of the center display. Maybe a software update could fix that. The tiny indicators at the bottom of the rear camera view are virtually useless also.
I hope MB is listening in.

I've tried adjusting the steering wheel but at an angle that is comfortable to see the top strip of warning lights on the binnacle display the bottom edge of the steering wheel obscures the information there. It's definitely not a friendly design.

I'm missing my '16 Genesis that had excellent beeping parking sensors. If I was parked between two cars and slowly started to reverse, whether it was a person or a car, the car would beep before I could see them. Then as they crossed my path to the rear the sound would actually move across my car letting me know their direction (sort of like a stereo warning).
I need to learn to drive again. I was so used to the Genesis, that I've now had almost two backing accidents in my C300 because I was relying on the Genesis system.
There is virtually no warning of any rear cross traffic.

It is adjustable, but you need service equipment to change configuration of the car. Ask someone not from the dealer but who works with Mercedes. In Moscow you can change it for 20$)

Chrysler/FIATs parking sensors/cameras...actually, their entire technology package with UConnect...is pretty top shelf when compared to other brands. It's simple/straightforward, non-cluttered, easy to use and it just works.

i would absolutely agree. we also own a 2017 dodge durango citadel with the technology package/UConnect and believe its a superior system! touchscreen and easy to maneuver, unlike our 2015 c300 premium package 1.
