More colors in ambient lighting
Is there a third-party upgrade or tweak to have more than the 3 colors for the ambient lighting? I am very sure the lights are capable of roygbiv but I might be wrong.

The C gets an array of three diodes for white, Amber and blue. They're arranged in the led strips as repeating sets of three. You'd need to replace those strips and the controller. I've seen it done but it's a major job.

when I heard/read that the newer models will have 64 colors I was so jealous....then again, I'm sure they don't have brown, sepia or other colors like that.....how many shades of green, red and blue will there be?

Too bad to hear that! I never checked the strips so never knew about that. It's a lot of work for an insignificant change so not worth it in my opinion. Thanks!

No, I have removed them and looked at them myself, they are simple RGB led.s capable of a lot more colors than three.
Also, there are no "strips", the light is emitted through a clear plastic lens with a led in the end.

Edit: I know a little coding but not sure how to hack the system. A more experienced hacker can try maybe?

I know from the 221, which also has Solar/Neutral/Polar, the three colors were all you got without replacing the led strips. It would be odd that MB put multicolor LEDs in the C but didn't bother to give it a controller capable of multiple hues, especially since the 222 got it a year earlier. I could be mistaken though. Vic, were you able to get the W205 LEDs to display different hues by changing voltage?

Nope, the choice of colors doesnt bother me, but I was really surprised when I looked at the W213 ambient lighting, it is way much brighter and is clearly visible in daylight.
In that vehicle it would be more likely that it is equipped with a RGB strip instead of a long plastic prism.

My C300 Sport didn't come with any option to change ambient lighting color other its intensity. I thought it was a default feature for all W205 but apparently not.

Just posted in another older thread, but this baffles me
I have a 2016 C300 with the standard 3 color choice for ambient lighting, but I have a rental CLA 250 for a few days, and that thing has like 20 color choices
Why would they limit what you can pick from, seems silly to me

I bet the face lifted 205 gets the full range ambient lighting, since the new E just got a 64 color system. The three color set up dates back at least to 2010. Face lift cars are always the cooler version.

I just noticed my rear door panel can only display blue. Neutral shows a slight neutral colour while Amber still shows blue. I took a pic at night and will have it checked at the dealer. It's going in for something else....

Colour choice, what's the point? You can hardly see the lighting anyway, don't know what ambient means in the Mercedes dictionary but you don't exactly get the car "glowing" with colour do you? They haven't even been able to match the illumination around the seat controls with the centre console choice have they?
