Weistec c450/c43 downpipe ****! (any advice for install?)
I'm very VERY happy with these units. Right off the bat, I'm guessing I'm going to save ~40lbs with these. The quality is on par with something I'd expect to pay $1,600 for. But to only pay $800?? I can't believe there's a company not gouging our eyes out with 400% markup simply because it's for a Mercedes. Kudos Weistec
I'm going to be installing these myself at the same time I ship my ECU to OE Tuning, hopefully no later than next weekend. I threw the car up on the lift the other day and poked around to see what it I'm getting myself into and it doesn't look too bad. I'm sure it shouldn't take more than two hours for even stumbling through the first time. I plan on taking a lot of pictures and probably even putting together a DIY write-up. But for anybody that has already installed these or any down pipes for that matter, any pointers? All work from the bottom, or a little bit from the top and most from the bottom? If you work from the top at all did you remove the air boxes on each side of the heads closest to the firewall? Not a big job by any means, but I appreciate any tips or suggestions to make it that much smoother.
I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking:

God damn those is fancy.
Ive never driven a modern car with test pipe. Will you get smoke like the Honda Civic fartcan guys? Is there any smell without the cats? I had a pre emissions car that used to give me a headache after a day of driving.
Nuke the whales!

Haha! This car is registered in an emissions exempt county, to technically I'm 100% legal; just to throw that DISCLAIMER out there
But we shall see. There definitely won't be any smoke (perhaps a tiny bit on cold starts-which is the only real time it is polluting). But I'm curious as to how much it will smell, myself. My old little 1.8t was strait piped and it only had a very faint smell to it. I imagine it will be more noticeable with the 3.0l but modern day cars are very efficient in their combustion cycles that it will be nothing like the pre-emissions car you've experienced.

Appreciate the suggestion though. Any feedback/advice is welcome here.
And has no one around here installed downpipes on this car that could give any feedback? I think I'm going to cross-post this to the C-Class-AMG forum as aftermarket mods don't seem to suite this section like the 47 threads we have on "what snow tires should I run?"

No vids or sound clips. I owned the Vetroresina back in a time where photos were taken with a specialized device known as a camera...10 years ago. It sounded so good. Fuel cutoff was just before 8k (redline 7,600). MSD ignition replaced the points so it started up perfectly, race cams (it hated being under 3k, you wanna hear crackles), jet hot coated headers, and an ANSA exhaust with smog pumps removed, Webbers were perfectly synched.
Sold too soon. 😥

I'd throw on a gas mask and drive the ***** out of that bad boy every day haha!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh but for $4+k? Would be sweet but that's just stupid money for a sub 100k car imo. I've got money to burn on this car and I want to enjoy it without compromising but let's be realistic here.
Based on past experiences of removing cats on cars, I really think putting these in is going to make the exhaust sound better than any setup I've heard (on Youtube) so far. Should give it a real mature deep tone in S+ but keep the 'comfort' modes stealthy. But this is a power adder first and foremost. I don't think the stock cutback is a restriction on stock turbos under current software mapping available. But the stock cats DEFINITELY are the bottleneck to the system.

If you're looking for more tone after the DP's fitted without a huge bill a pair of magnaflows on the back is a cost effective approach, I did on mine and its just a tiny bit of character without being obnoxious... which is what I am after.. every **** and their cousin in Oz has a ****box with straight thru's ..
Oh and get ready to want to dynamat the truck under floor.. the plastic floor back there allows for ANY drone increase to be noticeable. Luckily its an easy and cheap fix..

He expressed his thought on a matter and you didn't just disagree with him (which is completely your right and no one would fault you for it) you came up with some stupid metaphor and put him down. Just completely uncalled for, man.

Actually, it's quite the opposite. How dense are you that you cannot see that?

I'm out, not worth my time.
