the c class is now 50k car basically, and cla is a starter Mercedes.

People that used to buy the e class now buy the c, I think honestly the c is a great car if packaged right.

the new e class is priced way to close to s class, why not pay 300$ more a month for a s class.

If you are in a position to spend the company's $, it's all about optics. Sometimes it's also but attracting wrong attentions or having superiors jealous of you and make your life tougher than it needs to be.

There is also people who thing people are doing well when they drive Audi/MB/BMW. But what they didn't know is that with lease rate so cheap and so many deals, if not that hard to get your hands on one.

I think tall people (6'+) is still having a tough time being comfortable in a C. I have hand someone being 6'3" in front and his 6' wife in the back, it works but barely. The panoramic roof definitely helped them. E is a bit bigger.

But if I have the mean to get a loaded C43 but wants a more nicer ride, E300 would be my go to.

Should have told him there is no way I could afford it on what you pay me that's why I sell drugs or are a gigolo (your call) on the side.

2020 C300 Sedan
Yesterday I was driving next to a new E300 sport sedan and I did notice that except for a few differences in the back the body of the car looked exactly like my 2017 C300 sport sedan. The front and the sides looked exactly the same. I didn't consider that getting this car because it's got more interior room then I actually need so that's one of the reasons why I stayed with the C class. And I was looking to get a car that was similar dimensions to the Lexus IS 350 FSPORT that I was looking to get if Lexus had ever gotten off their butt and shipped the 2017's to the dealers. So far very happy with my C300. I enjoy driving it and it's much faster than my Lexus was.

I got a C300 and a E300 loaner within 2 weeks of each other.

I can def see the price premium in the E300.
-More padding in the interior surfaces
-Large navigation screen with great graphics
-Bigger and better seats
-More room in the back seats
-More trunk space
-9 speed auto is so much better
-Ride quality is better
-Amazing color ambient lighting

That said, the E300 looks too bland for me outside. Too big to park too. I would def take the C Class exterior with the E class interior though.

That's the huge different I noticed between the 7 speed dual clutch in the CLA and the 9 speed auto in the C43. The dual clutch is so jerky unless you drive it exactly the way it likes it, and rolling starts are the worst unless you apply the throttle perfectly.

Ditto experience re E loaner. Really liked the wraparound radar and the way it showed up on the display. But it definitely felt wider and heavier than my C300, and yeah, more of a challenge in razor thin city parking spots. Not on my wish list, I'd do an AMG C instead.

I think the real question here is why would anyone buy an E Class without a 6 cylinder engine?

GFB DV+ goes a long way to eradicate that.
Did exactly that on the wife's GLA250, smoother holds boost more progressively.
Also fitted to my C300.... less noticeable with the auto.... but holds boost further in the rev range which is always better.

You guys complaining about your engines being underpowered make me smile. Try driving a C180 (1.6 petrol)

Neat, I just did a little research into these things, I like to keep things stock but this feels like a worthy mod.

I'll answer this question with another question... Why wouldn't they?

For this follow-up question, let's say that price isn't a factor. A 2017 E300 and 2017 C300 with nearly identical packages/options are both available at the exact same price. Would you still buy the C300 instead of the E300?

As long as we're fantasizing, if the E300 and S550 were the same price, would you still prefer the E? The fact that the E is $13k more than a C300 with the same engine and a slightly larger cabin does make it difficult to justify buying the E. But I hear the E has a much better ride, especially with the acoustic package and AirMatic.

If you think those are the only (or main) differences between the two models, you obviously haven't spent much (or any) time in the new E300.

What do you think are the main differences between the E and the C?

I'd prefer a CPO S for the same price as a well optioned E. More car for the money and many of the issues have been sorted out + V8 option. Hell I would get a CPO E63 for the price of a well optioned 2017 E300. MB blew it by pricing the digital dash the way they did, I have yet to see it in real life outside of the NY Autoshow. No one who is leasing an E300 is adding $12k to the MSRP and anyone who wants to spend that much money can get a different car easily.

Yeah, without the P3, glass dash and Designo the E has kind of a rental car vibe.

Yeah, I'd avoid 3rd party leasing companies in general. Stick with MBFS.

We just picked up a 17 Q7 for my wife. It has the new Audi digital dash (Virtual Cockpit). $2k stand alone option and includes 360 camera. It's set into a conventional binnacle vs the big iPad look in the E. Not an Audi guy but it's a nice ride. For a truck. Interior is a massive step up from the previous generation. I think Mercedes is getting under Audi's skin with interior design. BMW's too.

Last year, my mom upgraded her '13 Q7 to the new '17 Q7. both great cars and obviously with a new generation you're going to get a better car, but the way car tech is advancing these days, you get a MUCH better car. The new Audi's with the virtual cockpits are amazing.

I'm biased as I'm a big (ex?)Audi guy. I actually convinced my parents to get Audi's as they liked my A4's so much and they need great AWD capabilities as they live on a mountain... But other than their industry leading AWD, Audi has never really gotten the respect they have earned the past 15-20 years when they stepped their game up going from the old CQs, x000 series etc models and started the A, S, RS, and Q series.

I still love Audi's but I think Mercedes finally took over again with the latest generations. They are finally making a truly proper AWD system.

One thing I REALLY love about Audi is on most models, they integrate their SATNAV screens in cool ways and give you the ability to HIDE THEM. God I wish I could press a button and make our "iPad" disappear.

I think My dad said he's trading his '13 A8 in on a new RS7 this year but now I might have him cross shop something like a CLS63
