E Class Much Smoother Auto Start/Stop Eco-Mode
So my C450 is at the dealer for some minor maintenance work and I have an E300 loaner. I've noticed that the E is significantly smoother in going in and out of eco mode than my C450. I don't even notice the transition in the E while in the C the car shudders during that transition. I've driven multiple C450s and they all felt the same in this regard so I don't think there is any issue with my car.
Just curious if it is the C's transmission that is lesser than the E's and that's why it isn't nearly as smooth going in and out of eco mode or what the deal is?

The E is more insulated. It's also a T4 instead of TTV6 which could play a factor.
edit: are you referring to auto start and stop or simply the Eco drive mode?

The new E Class uses the new 9 speed auto and the C450 uses the old double clutch 7 speed.
The 9 Speed is much smoother than the older system and it's being put into all Mercedes up to the 43s.
Edit: Ohh eco mode. Mercedes has made the newer ones much smoother, I noticed the new C300's engine restart was smoother than my CLA's, and the C43's restart was smoother than the C300.

I'd believe that Auto Start/Stop vibrations could be minimized with balancers and softer, more insulated engine mounts.
I don't think the transmission would have anything to do with the vibrations during start & stop as the transmission should be electronically disengaged (like the car smartly & automatically puts itself in PARK) during the transition.

Funny, I had the opposite thought. Our C450 is usually pretty smooth with auto start/stop (not sure why once in a while it isn't). The 2017 E300 I drove was less so.
