16 c300, when auto started with the Mercedes me app, once you grab the door handle the car shuts off? Is this normal? is there a setting either in the app or the car that needs to be changed. Seems kind of weird that it does not stay running, you should be able to get in, press the button and go?

Not on the OEM remote starter. The MidCity Smartkey Starter lets the car keep running as long as you press the start button before touching the brake. So far they haven't developed one for the 205, probably because of the stupid OEM remote.

yes, this is normal. I guess the logic behind it is, it prevents the car from being stolen while the engine is running and driven away without the key.

That's silly though. At that point the physical key is in the car with you. The system should verify the presence of the key just like it does normally and continue to run. With the MidCity, if you attempted to steal the car without a key on you, the moment you touched the brake to put the car in gear it would shut down. I guess a car thief could sit in the car and play the radio for ten minutes with the MidCity if they wanted. MidCity's also has no preconditions (doors locked, roof closed, five gallons of fuel, severed head of a rooster in center console, etc).

All my other cars have same, need to touch the brake and press start button to drive...at least the engine stays running.

Yup, it is silly... but, with the mercedes me app if the engine shuts off after touching the door handle, it's normal.... still silly, i agree.
