Is sirius XM necessary?
Now my subscription is almost over so
XM is keep calling me. TBH I never use the nav so I really don't need
the nav on the command. I have the better screen. If the XM subscription ends then would gps not work at all? or is it just the traffic that don't work?

If you listen to it, and enjoy it, subscribe to it. Just don't pay their asking rate, since "specials" are always available. If you renew, ask for the lowest price and they will tell you what the best deals are.
I personally like XM, although I also carry a variety of CD's in the car.

Unnecessary is paying $126 a year. Wait until the day your trial expires, then call up and ask for the $24.99 for 6 months promotion. The only catch is it auto renews at full price so set a reminder for yourself.

I do this every six months for Sirius/XM full access which allows me to stream from my ipad all day at the office. Never pay full price.
I personally don't have any issue with the sound quality.

As far as quality goes, I believe if you stream from the XM app it's a separate broadband feed and not going up to and being sent back from the satellites. That's the reason for the excessive compression when it's playing in the car.

I wait until my music subscription is almost over, and demand the 6 month extension for about $32 or I threaten to cancel...works every time. The traffic portion of the SiriusXM is good for 5 years.
