added xenons and ebay clear lenses '02 c32 or w203 sedan diy here

ok i am posting this because EVERY OTHER POST HERE ABOUT BUMPER REMOVAL IS FOR THE COUPE. SEDANS NEED A DIY TOO :P

DO NOT HESITATE TO PM ME FOR QUESTIONS

while it's fresh in my mind. this install took me about 2 hours to do and the xenon kit plus the ebay clears (bixenons style) cost me $400 together. here are the basics of the install.

1. raise the car and put it on jackstands.
2. turn the wheel of the car to the correct side to get access to the wheel well cover you need to remove. each wheel well has 3 hex bolts on it and 5 push pins that you need to remove. (one push pin in the wheel well and 4 underneath the car in the remainder of the wheel well).
3. there is one push pin that is above the wheel well cover you just removed. remove that push pin for access to the hex bolt above.
4. with a #20 torx bit remove the bolt that holds the bumper and the fender together. after removing the bolt go ahead and pull out the long clamp piece that sandwiches the wheel well and the fender together which you just took the torx bolt out of.
5. take the foglights out (they twist out). unplug the sidemarker lights (this was the hardest part of the install for me as there is almost no clearance and they're hard as hell to spin out).
6. get underneath the car looking up at the bumper from below and over near each foglight there is 1 hex screw that you must remove from each side (make sure you have a long extension for this). remove 1 hex bolt from each side of the bumper.
7. Now from above with the hood open of course look to the corners of the front of the car where the grille would sit if the hood were closed. There are 2 funny looking double bolts there on either side. remove them.
8. now pull the bumper out. the lights have 3 bolts on each one. two in the front and one on the side of the car.
9. wire your xenons and do the above in reverse to finish the install (putting the wheel well covers back on is a ***** if you don't remove the lower engine cover of the car)
10. note that with the xenons i have i get NO SERVICE LIGHT. however for the first 5 seconds or so of turning them on they do blink.

i'll post pics when i get a chance. these lights look beautiful.

Nice write up.. For #5.. just pop out the bumper light then pull out the bulb.. takes like 5 seconds. You can use a screwdriver wrapped in a soft thin cloth.. Works like a charm..

I have a nice pic that would work well in this thread..

Click the image to open in full size.

For #7 in the DIY, In the picture there are two black brackets that can be seen on bumper frame about the width of the radiator. (Right inside where the high beam of the headlight is) This is where the funny little bolts referenced attach..

Could you give some more details about exactly which parts are needed and where to purchase? Is everything available on ebay?

Bah...i Meant $500 Not $400..

sure, i'll tell you exactly what i purchased- although i'm sure they will delete my post:

i purchased the 6000k hid kit from k1 motor sport dot com (take the spaces out and put a period in place of the "dot". they cost me 250ish shipped.

and i purchased these lights from ebay. they got here in 4 days and the quality is excellent.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=300054684547

they are plug and play and i have no fault codes. further- the lenses allow for a "true hid" look. they look just like the ones from my s2000 in that they are bright- you notice the pattern, and they do look like changing colors when you're being followed.

Those are odd looking headlights.. Do they really have those vertical lines on the lenses? I have seen the black depo headlights installed and they look pretty cool in black..

yes, they have the lines. i like the look- it's different but not noticeable when the lights are actually on. i will post pics when the weather clears up.

theres 2 versions, one that looks like bi-xenons:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DEPO-...59087694QQrdZ1

and the one you bought:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=300054684547

see the difference?

real bixenons are a lot more detailed looking in the housing, but when buying aftermarket sets, u can almost guarantee they are jus regular halogen projectors. from a far they look the same, but light output is night and day.

for one, the bixenons have the dual canons like the links posted above of the two ebay auctions. i know that usually xenons bulbs shining thru halogen lenses do not look too great but let me take a picture of mine tonight and post. they really do look almost exactly like the ones on my s2k.

thanks

With the halogen bulbs, it looked like crap. Now that the HID's are there, it looks much better. There is a bold line where the light starts / stops. My wife's car has Bi-Xenons from the factory and we both prefer the look of mine. I don't have the auto leveling, and I had to use the ignitors / ballasts. Overall, I'm happy because I got the black look. I want everything in black....

Glare!?

That looks like way too much glare. The lights should not be that high on the wall from what I've read.

Was the kit designed for HID, or projector bulbs?

hi,

they look hi because the car is about 200 feet from the wall. however the lenses were designed for projector bulbs. the glare is not there if you look at the lights head on. you will see 2 distinct dots until you get in the actual beam.
