Update: CLK AMG 18" Split Spoke Rims

I was talking to one of my local MB dealer parts department yesterday and decided to asked about the new AMG 18" split spoke wheels.

I have seen other posts where one fellow must have returned 6 sets b/c of various defects.

Well when I asked about price and availability the parts guy told me the wheels have been pulled b/c of production problems and that he expects that they should become available sometime next year Jan-Mar.

Thought some of you would be interested.

Can you get the 18" split spoke wheels as a factory option instead of the 17". The 17" looks too small!

Many of us have been wondering why the 2003 CL55's have been comming with standard Sport 5 spoke AMG wheels vs the Dual spoke wheels. This must be why.

Jan-March...that'll be perfect timing when i will need to change my tires...hehe

well, the dual spoke on the CL55 are 8.5x18 and 9x18
and on the CLK55 are 7.5x18 and 8.5x18

from the picture they look different from the side....could be just the way the pictures are taken OR most likely because of the offset is different

Well as long as the webmaster has not made a mistake it looks like we have our choice between two versions of the 18" split spoke wheels.

AMG dual spoked wheel (Styling IV)
- 7,5 x 18 ET 37 tyre size 225/40
- 8,5 x 18 ET 30 tyre size 255/35 (only RA)

AMG dual multi-pieced spoked wheel (Styling IV)
- 8,5 x 18 ET 30 tyre size 225/40 (only FA)
the (only FA) must refer to the tire b/c the rim specs are the same?
- 8,5 x 18 ET 30 tyre size 255/35 (only RA)

Do you know if we can get 18" as stock on an AMG (as a factory option), rather than aftermarket? Maybe for a upgrade fee?

You have asked this question many times already and nobody really has given you a definite answer. People are only telling you this set of wheels is out and you can buy them.

I think if you were to "custom order" a C32, you can ask the dealer to put on the 18" double spoke as one of the "custom options". I see no reason why MB will not do that for you. I believed John's car will have the 18" double spoke on his car when he pick it up next month.

Good luck.
