Carbon Fiber Hood?

As per MB EBC.net, W203 C55 hood is different than the W209 CLK hood! The part number starts with 203 and not 209... , but I do not know if that physically will fit? Did anyone try to install VIS CLK hood?

hmm. i was always told that the w209 hood would fit, due to the car being a clk w209 from the front windshield on up..

I just installed a vis CF hood on my w202 and the fitment was off.......
Had to modify lots to get everything to work and the gaps/lines are off, not sure how others are but i know with aftermarket stuff its never really a good fit.
Be ready to spend lots of tweeking time.

thanks for the clarification superstar....now we just need to get the hoods made in carbon fiber. i am in on one....maybe i can beg neal at the meet on the 1st.

Or maybe we could contact VIS and get a group buy or something, the VIS CLK hood on ebay as low as $780 plus shipping!

anyone got a friend with a w209 that we could check fitment? if i remember correctly the hoodlatches are different as are the grille support but if thats all thats different then its not a big difference...

Eric, we should really look into doing this...i realy dont want to drop 4500 for a custom carbon fiber hood.

I think silver carbon fiber would look AWESOME and would be willing to pay more for something unique and not made by anyone else for the C55. btw.. a lighter hood will shave 50+lbs and that translates to much better ETs and traps. What's the rule again. For every 10lbs you save how much time do you shave?

You should take your car to the dump and pull up on the scale with you inside and see what it weights. Then compare it to your dyno numbers for you HP to weight ratio.

yes. I ordered one from VIS in silver carbon fiber. It's the same hood as the one for the W209 CLK. Great price at $1100!

IMO...just IMO CF stuff are overpriced and overrated in recent years. i.e. for the E90/92 M3s their aluminum hood actually does not weight much more than the most quality CF hoods. some CF/fiberglass hood are actually heavier
