I had a feeling that was the answer. I just thought someone would read this that had some kind of knowledge on injection molding and could elaborate if it is a more complex piece to manufacture or whatnot. Oh well.

Well, to follow up on my earlier post on this thread, I decided to give the rearward facing bolt another try. (And I got to try my new Rhino Ramps which I love!).
It was all about leverage. A longer pipe over a 1/4" ratchet worked over a3/8" and a shorter pipe despite the 3/8" robustness. There was no way that bolt was torqued to factory specs. But I got it loose and the rest is easy. And as someone posted, I did use a six-point socket to help mitigate stripping the bolt head.
