another C32 exhaust question

well i just searched through tons of threads over the past couple yrs and havent found what i wanted to see.

surprisingly, i cannot find a picture of the stock C32 AMG exhaust from underneath the car. does anyone have a link of a picture of it?

ALSO,

has anyone actually installed TRUE dual exhaust on the C32 (all the way back)? not just dual outlets with quad tips, but actually dual exhaust from headers/maniforlds + cats all the way back in the form of straight pipes with or w/o an H or X. thanks

There isn't much on the topic for us C32 guys. Here is my setup:

Vadim's shorty Headers > Prim Cats > Sec Cats > Magnaflow dual resonator w/ integrated X pipe > CLK BS mufflers > Kleemann tips

I had to add the dual resonator b/c the car was extremely loud and I read we needed backpressure. I'm still researching and debating what can be done to go back to the graspy but tolerable sound of the the stock setup minus the resonator...

Any reason why your keeping the secondary cats? Im pretty new to the modding process but ive read that they were pretty much useless. Please correct me if im wrong, id like to learn as much as possible. Thanks

No worries aho. We are here to learn.

To be honest with you, after hearing how LOUD it was from the first setup (all cats - dual stock piping - no resonator - dual mufflers)... I was more concern about getting the noise down and making it work.

Also, I think the shop would've not let me; I might try that next.

I was thinking of getting rid of just the resonator to start, is there a real noticeable difference in the noise level with just that removal? Id like a nice growl from mine.

Do you have any engine bay shots? Id like to see what the SL55 intake looks like compared to my stock one.

Didn't Jerry and some of the LET boys try this awhile back? I know Vadim has done it, but I don't remember the outcome, ie if it was worth it or not.
From what I remember the consensus was the stock exhaust flowed plenty and there was no gain in doing a true dual all the way back. Still doesn't answer your question though...
Have Hooley whip you something up and test it out for us.

white and whiter
there are few that did the C55 exhaust on the C32, but no they're not true dual as it merges into the resonator first before splitting to two muffler. However I don't see it being that hard to do once you've done the c55 mufflers.

Hey jturkel,

I don't have a pictures, but I do have a schematic of the exhaust. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Albert Hernandez.

Anyone know what the bolt specs are for the bolts connecting the flanges between the resonators and the cats? I am looking to pull off the driver side resonator so I can get to the driver side motor mount. When I separate the flanges... its looking like the bolts are so rusty that they'll definitely need replacing. Figure I'll replace both sides (all four bolts) while I am there.

Do I need these things? Or will I be able to use the ones that are there... they looked a little rusty, but cant really tell what the inside may look like till I pull them apart.

Thanks
