FYI: The wiring kit that you guys need to do this is made by PLCMAN on the LXforums. I just ordered one of his kits and a set of switches from the 171 chassis part number.

I´ve just retrofitted the AMG-Paddles on a 2002 C-Coupe.
If any of you guys tells me how the steering box (where the shift knob is on top) forwards the orders to change gears, I might be able to help you.
I need to know if there is just a connection to the ECU with wires, or if the steering box also has a mechanic connection to the transmission.

C30 AMG help needed
Hello,
I am a new owner of "Simppa80"'s car and I would appreciate if someone could give me a hint how to prodeed with this steering wheel change?
Car has C32 paddle steering wheel, and datacard has already been programmed via SCN. Something is still to be done because it doesn't work.
Any suggestions?

Hello all. So I am picking up my new (to me) 2003 C32. I plan on doing some mods, including paddle shifters. I have done some searching, and I have yet to find anyone who has done this on a C32 with the stock wheel. If so, I would love to know how it works. I have a solid electronics backround, and I am ready to tackle this one. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Mike

W203 slightly modified
From 2003 and later
-----------------------
Step 1
---------
Throw away your EGS2 out and install EGS3 transmission controller from 2005 car.
Step 2
--------
Perform coding of the chassis type and include 428 paddle shift option.
Step 3
---------
Install 428 compatible steering spiral in steering column
Step 4
---------
Add W203 paddle shift steering wheel such as R171 steering wheel (sold as sports pack on W203)
Step 5
-------
Throw away cheap lame plastic paddles and install amazing R230 metal paddles. Make sure you check part number since 2 versions exist.
Step 6
-------
Add C-S-M button to centre console.
FINISHED.
If you have PRE-2003 car ....... who knows. This version of the upgrade only works easily for MSG engine controller cars because of the steering spiral .
I dont know who is having problems here with this upgrade but I can assure you that after 2003 is it simple and uncomplicated because of the CANBUS associated with the upgraded MSG engine controller / new column switches / new windscreen sensor and new SAM software.
The C32 was sold late into 2004 with the facelifted centre console and paddle shift from factory.

Where or how can I get the EGS3? This is essentially the TCU correct? And if in that case a C55 would do?

If you can find somebody or some company to do this coding, the rest is just HW.
I have been trying to do this paddle shift retrofit to my CLK (same process); but I stopped once I hit this "scan coding" wall.
