I dont know why RS4 costs more but I bet Audi is thinking it's sh*t don't stink.
Their resale value is about the same or less than a C63 or a M3. If you want to save money with a Audi Buy a A4 2.0 and a stage 3 APR tune

Because there is no buy or sale on this type of car so there is no such resale value

The 2007 RS4 has a more recent design than the E46M's or C55. Plus it will leave those two in the dust at the track or on the straight. |

just look up the number of rs4's imported in the US and look up how many M3's BMW sells in one month. Then you get the picture.
The 2007 rs4 also has the destroked Lambo v8 in it. So i'm sure having a lambo engine in it, helps with the resale value.

Because it started out 30% more when new? Most of the RS4 cars were in the $70-74k range and C55 was $56-$58. You can do much better $ wise if you could live with a S4 instead. More of them, still a V8, and its got quattro AWD.

Tem is dead on....
resale values (the Edmunds of the world) get their stats from DMV's that list the resale taxable rate on the car sold/titled-so-if there are 10 RS4's sold in your state-and 7 of the buyers are recktards and paid too much-it will inflate the values- this would be one of the (few) times that an auction value and researching autotrader, ect would beni the potential buyer- as for better $ wise (Phil)-there are buyers who want the limited prod of the RS series (I'd like to get my hands on an RS6-sure there are much better cars out there-but something about it appeals to me)-and Audi hopes to convert its A4-S4-RS4 buyers down the line- |

RS4 was imported limited quantity to U.S.
Plus, Brand new RS4 cost more than both C55 or M3.. |

You have to wonder if the RS4 deserves to be termed "limited qty"
From Wikipedia To date, approximately 10,000 B7 RS4s have been built, of which around 2,500 are in the USA. However there are only 1600+ C55s made for the US market Now the RS4 is really a car that has more power than a C55/M3, but because of its porkiness its not much faster. It also guzzles gas like a pig. The Audi S4 has always been the slowest in the group. I think the RS4 was made to improve the cars performance and at the same time capitalize on the RS name it made for it self in the early 90s when the RS2 was made by Porsche. Plus its cool to drive an Audi now, I bet Audi feels it product deserves to be more expensive than its competitors and the typical Audi buyer doesn't compare vehicles when purchasing. They feel their cars are the equivalent of the iphone. Case in point wonder why the S5 is more $$$ than a M3 and the A5 is more $$$ than a 335i.

That wasnt the point i was trying to make. Evos and 335is dont compete with each other. A5s and 335is do.
Doesnt matter if Evo MRs are ripping 9 sec 1/4 mile passes. its still a subcompact

There would be a lot of car mags that would argue that the 335i and Evo X dont compete-those were the first to compare when the X launched-I dont see it as a cross shop either-but C+D, MT-they all did.
Personally-I wouldnt cross shop an RS4 and a C55/C63 either-they are two diff (enough to me at least) cars that they wouldnt serve me- you could argue that an RS4 and an Evo should be cross shopped tho..... |

The 2007 rs4 is more of a e92 m3 and c63 competitor. Audi just came out with there refresh earliar. Audi is remarketing the trim levels.
The new S4 is suppose to compete against the 335i and the rs4 will compete against the m3 and c63

I've run an rs4 and they're not all that quick. In any event the reason for the FMV being higher is the intial price was higher to begin with as previously stated. Thread [END]
