Considering a 2003 Mercedes-Benz C32 AMG Sedan

82000 miles. About 15 grand.

Any thoughts on this car? Are they problematic, or if it's well-maintained (and I continue to maintain it) will it be "reliable"?

Are there any tips one would have about owning a car like this?

What would you say the expected cost of maintenance is?

I really appreciate your input.

its kinda high, you can probably get it for closer to 12-13k.

Common problems are leaky radiator, seat control modules draining the battery, intercooler pump going bad. If your buying from a MB dealership i suggest extended mb warranty.

The engine and tranny itself is dead reliable from amg. The accessories from bosch and valeo, not so much.

Just keep in mind maintence on this car will be a lot more then your camry, but it'll put a bigger smile on your face then your camry =).

If your a Diy'er or have extended warranty you should be ok.

Well, it's from a private seller. Maybe I should look into finding one (if possible) at a dealership instead.

Thanks for your response! It was very helpful.

How much would the expected repair costs for an I/C pump? How often do they require replacement?

I'm not really a DIYer. Don't have the tools, space, or skill for that. Kinda makes me wonder if this car might be a bit beyond me.

U can buy a johnson pump for around $150-170...i would say maybe 2hrs install So $170 plus 2hrs labor. Unfortunately you won't get toyota maintence, part or labor costs.

I am selling mine. Seat control modules and intercooler pump have been fixed. It is modded to stage 2 with an LET motorsports pulley and tune and a coilover kit. So its has a few thousand in mods, it has less miles on the clock and im asking less...

I am picking up an 03 C32 in 2 weeks and was curious what would be your first engine mod if you had to choose on a completely stock C32? I am thinking a pulley kit for starters to bump it up above the 349hp marker.

EC has a pretty good deal right now, i think its a 185mm pulley and tune for $1000. If you get a 185, you need a tune or you will run lean.
