To c55 or not?

Hello all new to the Mercedes club and was wondering what are the downs of owning a c55, insurance, gas mileage?

yeah im thinking about getting one suddenly now too, figured if i sell my c320 get 16, 17K, find another 5 K , i can get a c55, rather than try to mod the c320....

The downs of owning a C55? Nobody knows that your car is a sports car. That seems to be my problem.. I had a guy in a e46 m3 ask what my car was... Also had a kid call my car a lexus and a acura . I have many more stories but that is the recent stuff..

My insurance and gas mileage isnt bad.

Insurance is not a problem at all (although I've been driving for 30 years with a clean record).

Gas mileage for me is upper 16's around town. On the open highway I can get 21-22 (even at 80mph).

Maintenance on these cars is very reasonable (providing you find a car that is well maintained and without too many miles on it). There is a thread on here where guys have listed the maintenance they have done on their C55's and it is surprisingly minimal. Try to search this forum - you'll be amazed.

Tires are the biggest thing - you'll go through the stock tires every 12K miles or so. Other than that, change the oil every 5-6K miles and follow the other recommended service items per the manual (all of which are pretty minimal) and you'll be fine.
