I know there are some people running pretty wide tires (275, 285?), but I believe fender modification was necessary. I'm running 265s on factory C63 wheels, but I've never really paid attention to how much wider I could go.

9.5 rims 265 tire - maximum on C32 without fender mod.

No, they are not. I had to use 15mm spacers all around.

Any idea if 18x10s spec'd for a W211 E55 would fit at the rear? Or is that too wide?

depends on the offset, they changed part way through, you want 35 to 38 ET. The largest tire you will fit will be a 275.

Yes...when I had 275/40R17 on my car the cruise control acted weird and sometimes didn't work but with the 265/35's I haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Odd, I have no problems with cruise control and traction control is less invasive I assume because perhaps the larger tire diameter vs the front fools the system in allowing it to slip more than with the stock smaller rear diameter tires.

I'm running 255/35/18 Pirelli Pzero Nero on the rear stock rim. No rubbing issues.

I did notice better grip, handling and less rear wheel spin when slow turning, after going to the wider tire.
