any major differences 2005 - 2006?

Were there any improvements made to the C55 from the 2005 to 2006 model year?

I don't believe so, it is easier to find an 06 with the wood trim though.

yes there are, mike kuriger knows what they are. it's a mechanical difference. something that the clk has that the 2005 c55 does not but the 06' does. i just can't remember what it was mike knows.

edit: i remember now, it's the solenoids. up to 2005 they came with the brown top, 2006+ are i believe blue top. big difference if you're into mods.

Transmission solinoids solved all my problems!

Hmm, I was under the impression that the blue tops weren't all that. There were a couple of people that changed to them and said they made the car irritating to drive because they were so harsh. I was about the shell out for them and then changed my mind because of that.

Other than this +/- $400 "mod" that sounds to be a personal choice kinda thing, no other issues found that were fixed year over year? (ex CTS-V changing the dif in 2006 after everyone was blowing them to pieces in the 04-05 cars)

Good to know, I wish I researched a little more prior to buying the '08 C350, I am now in love with the C55 and found a 2005 with only 39K miles - decisions....

I believe that was the 2007 model year that didn't get imported because the 07 SLK55 had the paddles.

I have no comment about the transmission solenoids, but the main practical difference between a 2005 and 2006 C55 was that the CD player from the 2006 models could play MP3's while the 2005 models could not.

Both 2005 and 2006 models sold in N. America had shift buttons. Only the 2007 C55 had shift paddles (which wasn't sold in N. America).

The facelifted 2005 C55 already benefited from many mechanical upgrades compared to the pre-facelifted C32.

I think the only difference was the MP3. I don't believe the blue tops were proven to be a 2006 change across the board
