Man, that CF looks really nice on the door panels. Definitely gonna be doing this at some point.

C55 AMG
Seems to be ok now, I think I just needed to get used to how hard it shifts at wot lol
Sorry for the lack of updates fellas, been dealing with my step-mom having lung cancer, new job and new gf so modding has taken a bit of a back seat. Chemo for my step-mom has been going better than the doctors say they could ever have hoped for though so that's fantastic.
Rear calipers are still half stripped and UDP still hasn't been installed but given that things are settling down hopefully I'll get back to those projects in the next few weeks. Still waiting on the last 2 pieces from Ocarbon (my fault, not Matt, for above reasons). I have installed the passenger front though
Thinking about maybe getting black door pulls, I mocked it up with the pulls from the black C32 panels I got the donor trim from...what do you guys think?
Mulac, pretty sure the email is matt@ocarbon.com, I'll double check for you...

Unfortunately the mounting setup for the C32 doesn't work at least not in any way that I can see. I have an idea though, when I get it wrapped up I'll let you know how it worked.
Same for me Nacht, too much going on for the past 6 or 7 months. EC looked at my post-cam dyno runs and decided no changes were necessary. I missed out on any track time this spring and it's too damn hot now. I'm hoping things work out better this fall cause I'm still itching for that 11 second slip lol

Love when I get packages at the office! Couldn't pass these up, RB 2-pieces will be headed my way shortly!
On a weird unrelated note, went to the bar with a friend a few weeks ago and ran in to a guy who said he used to have a C55. Said he had some extras laying around and asked if I wanted them. Long story made short, the guy gave me a CF lip, extra clear side markers and some other small things. Small world, right?
BTW-Jake, one of the little extras is Brabus badging, dibs to you if you want it to match the new front end If you want it I'll get it to you one of these days soon...hopefully quicker than the front engine cover I promised to Mulac (sorry buddy! )

Was gonna ask, are those off CLK63? (the calipers)
And are the caliper mounting bolts still in the same place, you just need the bigger rotors and pads to make them work?

If there's a good weekend for it, this one will likely be the best, put me down as probably
'06 CLK55, the other hot sister
Caliper mounting bolts are the same to my understanding, rotors and pads would be it. I'm also doing stainless lines so at least one system of my car is 100% complete.
Stock rotor specs for these calipers iirc are 340mm 2-piece floaters up front, 330mm 1-piece rear. I most likely would have taken either of the 6/4 options available but I wanted these specifically because of the lower weights of the Racing Brake rotors. Per the RB website, our C55 front stockers weigh 26.7 lbs. The RB replacement 2 piece for the calipers I just bought (05-06 CLK55 and 2005 SLK55) is 18lbs for the front as opposed to 22 lbs for the CLK63 RB replacement. Stock MB CLK63 rotors are just under 25.
RB doesn't have a rotor for the C32/C55 rear and consequently doesn't have any stock info (I'll report both the weight of my stock and RB replacement rotors with part numbers and a writeup soon though), but both show 15.5 lbs for the replacements so the only gains are with the fronts.
Greatest weight savings + 6/4 hotness =
All this rotor stuff has me thinking about wheels too....
I didn't mention my command took a dump a month or two ago (finally lol. I was no fan.), so I'm in the process of figuring out what I want to do with the i.c.e.
I figure that there's no way I'll be able to not gain a few pounds with a new audio setup (sub, amp, crossovers, cables, etc.). But I can keep it as light as possible, meaning no boxes, and most of all removeable. I don't want that much power anyway. 250-300W to 1 sub is plenty. The two subs I'm considering are the FI IB12 and the Acoustic Elegance IB12AU (thought a little about the IB10AU, but I think a 12 will be perfect). The FIs are purpose-built, hand made when you order them (bespoke subs, wtf! Yes please!). Nice looking frame too. I can work with it. Both are in the same range of 500W and can give me what I want without breaking a sweat. At the moment I'm leaning toward the FI. Just need to figure out the baffle.
A 5 channel amp feeding around 100w rms to 6.5 Polk components and coaxials in front/rear and 250-300 to an infinite baffle 12 with great sq is all I'll ever want. If I change my mind later the sub still has plenty of head room.

Don't get me started on head units...

Forgot to mention, Racing Brake's 2-piece replacement for the stock 1-piece C55 345mm rotor weighs 19lbs, 1 pound more than the RB 06 CLK55 340mm.
So, 05-06 CLK55/ 05 SLK55 6/4 calipers with RB 2-piece rotors have the greatest weight loss you can get brake-wise for a W203 AMG using factory calipers.

Good info on the brakes, thanks
What happened to your Comand unit? Mine just stopped working this past weekend. It turned off and not matter what I did it won't turn back on, just nothing at all. I did notice last night when I got home that the power button and eject button are still illuminated, but nothing else. They also seemed to stay illuminated even after I locked the car and all the lights dimmed. Kinda had me freaked out so I was monitoring voltage on my ride into work this morning, but that was okay...I'll have to check the fuses, but man if it's not the fuses

I should be there, with the holidays coming up it'll likely be the last chance I have for a little while.

It was weird, I drove it to work and went to a meeting down in Rockville. Nav and radio working just fine when I got out of the car, but nothing whatsoever when I came back. It was definitely getting power still...the screen was VERY hot. It even stayed hot when the key was out. Drove home without any change and the next morning the battery was dead. I pulled the fuse & jump started it and am just going without until I finalize a game plan. Thinking about the Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX but we'll see.
More goodies! Cap on my shifter is looking tired so I picked up the AMG cap from formymercedes.com. They send a free detailing brush too, nice!
TB is being replaced tomorrow, I'll update on that in the next 2 or 3 days...

I hope mine isn't causing a battery drain issue...were you able to hit eject and have it open? Mine won't do anything, just power and eject button are illuminated. I'll have to check if it's getting hot at all. I do know if I put my head next to it I can hear a slight buzzing sound behind the head unit but not sure what it is. Maybe I should just upgrade to a better head unit.
Why are you replacing TB? Bigger TB?

TB is for the ongoing p0102 maf code. Ive done everything to figure it out, replaced mafs, hoses, egr, done smoke tests, swapped intakes...broke down and took it in and according to my indy all signs point to a sticking butterfly. Got a replacement from a 2011 C350 that only had 6k on the clock for $130.00 @ PGA in Frederick. I'll report back when I get some miles on it.

Well crap, mine prob has power as those two lights are illuminated...not what I want to hear, was hoping maybe it's one of my fuses
PGA is awesome, I got a used steering rack from them when mine went bad. Much better to spend $100 instead of $650 for a reman

A few updates...sitting at Mandrel Bending Solutions right now for some exhaust work. Having test pipes fabbed for race days and cats with v bands for emissions... also just received the last pieces of the OCarbon trim, should have some pics up this weekend!

How much did that ocarbon trim end up costing at the end? I emailed them about a quote but they wanted to know all the pieces off the car I wanted to do. I'm sure you did everything I want, so should cost the same.

Here is what I got done:
1. Aftermarket double din install kit (that was the whole reason behind all of the cf trim...stupid shaped radio )
2. All center console trim
3. All trim for doors
4. All 4 plastic door handle/window switch surrounds
The door switch surrounds were apparently the big p.i.t.a. for Matt, lots of big curves to conform to, but Matt made them look immaculate.
Keeping busy extending o2 sensor harnesses in the waiting room lol...

Damn, I need to replace the cupholder yesterday!
Well, finally replaced my failed Comand, which means I got to put in the CF radio install kit! The whole reason I got the CF trim was to allow me to replace the head unit but not have hideous plastic sandwiched between Benz bird's eye maple. YUCK! Lots of folks seem to hate on the Ash interior, but I always thought it was a great color. It just really needs bold contrast. Something bolder than anything the factory offered. I finally have the rest of the OCarbon door trim in my hands and ready to install this weekend while I'm working on the rest of the new audio toys. More pics to follow...
I ended up getting a Pioneer Appradio 4. Should work well with my Android, especially with the ARUnchaned app, which allows full mirroring:
"...any app can be used and controlled using the touch screen and keys on the headunit.
Also any application can receive GPS data from the AppRadio."
Sweeeeeet. Not to far down the road I'm thinking hardwire install of radar/laser jammer tied in to Escort Live via head unit? Cool! Bluetooth OBD reader and the Torque app mirrored in the dash? Cool! I think this thing should be fun to play with. Regardless, even now in it's original state it's pretty functional, with plenty of car-centric apps available.
The head unit replacement wasn't bad, just tedious. A lot more complicated than they used to be though. There are soooo many cables. It looked like the head unit got disemboweled! Look on the passenger floor in the pic!
I still have lots to do, but I'm hoping to at least have the new speakers in and powered by the head unit this weekend. I went with 6.5" Polk MM6501 components in the front and MM651 2-ways in the rear. Still on the fence between a 12" Fi IB312 or a 10" or 12" Acoustic Elegance IB series. Spending some time planning tomorrow. At least for now I'll be using an older MB Quart 1000W Multichannel feeding 125 to each side and 500 to the sub. Both IB subs are rated for 500+ continuous and the Polks in the doors are rated @ 125, so I should have as much head room as I'll ever want.
Also, I've had people ask me for pics of the exhaust work I've had done, so for those that are interested:
First pic should be of the catted pipes I had fabbed for emissions. They mate right up to the Kleemann flanges and terminate at V-bands right before the X pipe. Second pic is looking back at the X itself. Now, when I'm at the track, I can jack up the car, loosen 6 bolts and 2 v-bands, swap to catless pipes, tighten 6 bolts and 2 v-bands and ready to go!

Thx bud, it took a while but it was worth it!
Head unit is a Pioneer AppRadio 4 http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...o+4+(SPH-DA120)
I actually ordered the Appradio3 at a closeout price but apparently they ran out so they sent me this for the same price
If anyone is curious, the CD changer, head unit and H/K amp weigh 17 lbs 1 oz without the CDC magazine...
