Great, clean ride and I enjoyed reading this. Is that the factory or replica W209 grill? It also looks like you have/or had the factory flat badge that fits ON-TOP, instead of inside the emblem recess like many aftermarket ones, is that correct?

ECS is great for parts and they usually have the best prices. I've ordered a dozen genuine parts from them already. Service is great too

I have a genuine CLK grille as well as a CLK AMG hood latch. The previous owner glued in a genuine CLK flat badge. While C55s have the long W209 CLK hood, they still have the normal c-class mounting point for the badge. I didn't like the glue so I cleaned it up and fitted this aftermarket AMG badge in which fits on top, clicks in, and is identical to the Mercedes badge size. In this case you are correct.

The seller does not seem to have them at the moment. http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=...ighting&_sop=3

I prefer the way it looks

Well guys, that is it for this car. Thank you guys on the forum for helping me out when I bought the car almost 2 years back and along the journey. For now I have to figure out the insurance. I'm also looking into E55s as I think it is time to move up but i'm open to suggestions regarding that matter. I'm not at fault for the accident.

Ouch! Very sad! Such a clean example too, and we know how rare Canadian market C55s are too. Trust you are okay.

I vote for C63 as a replacement....

Sorry to hear about your accident, you normally keep your car in such a good condition. It does not look to bad, and you look like a handy guy. Are you considering buying it back from insurance and fixing it. I am not sure about structure but it would seem like sub frame + fender + bumper + lights + radiator + a couple of other fittings. Not to bad for a DIY-er if main frame is ok.

Keep us up to date what you decide.

I would probably add radiator, possibly fan, and at least some of the front control arms and tie rods, maybe the steering rack. I agree it's definitely possible to fix. It's basically all the crap I had to do when I bought my salvage title C55.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, hate to see her go!

I don't know about the rebuild guys. You have to add the dashboard and steering wheel (airbag holes), passenger side tire blew and rim bent. On top of that the engine was forced upwards. The coolant drained completely, and there was engine oil leakage. The car is totalled.

Oh man, yeah it's a lot of work looking at that pic! Probably a lot of the gaskets and seals took a hit from the impact. Still doable but definitely a lot of work.

+1, I trust the C55 protected you as well as my C230 did. 50mph to 0mph impact and I walked out unharmed. One thing can be said for sure, MB's rep for safety is no joke!

Dang man, sorry to hear. Saw this on IG too; care to elaborate on the clown in the Lexus? With all the recent maintenance I hope you have your receipts to nickel and dime the SOB to get your full $'s worth from insurance.

Yes, it looks like a hard hit, but it would be double. Dashboard and steering wheel will be easy (new steering wheel will have paddle shift fitted), + airbags. You have to check seat belts etc...........

It will probably be a drag to fix it if you don't have the space or tools, but it would be a nice weekend job for me for the next couple of months.

But yes, a clean C55 or E55 would be nice or you can look into a early 2008 C63. However, if I compare the C55 vs early C63 I still like the 55 quality but the 63 engine is nice (rev's freely).

Let us know what you are going to do.

RIP: A Moment of Silence for this C55 AMG

It’s never fun losing a friend, a coworker, or the thing that gave you so much joy, but these things tend to happen, as with our forum member Richardmozis and his 2005 C55 AMG. A few days ago, the car was working fine, but then someone hit him and completely totaled the once-pristine car. RIP.

That's a lot of damage. I wonder if the truck drivers insurance will drop his coverage after this is all over. Funny that the person at fault had the least damage $ wise

BC has government insurance, so there is effectively only one auto insurance company for the whole province. Several other provinces are the same in Canada, and the others have competitive insurance markets. Probably his premiums will increase?

Just a quick update, the C55 is gone forever to some wrecking yard in Richmond, BC I believe. I moved up to an E55 just a few days ago, It's definitely a different beast.
