A couple local M3s but they wont race me anymore. Nor will they even look over after being beaten. They try not to look at the C32 anymore when I pass by.
I think their egos are crushed.

Yes I have been having fun with the local m3's as well. Most of them are highway or rolling starts but c32 always comes out on top pretty easily.
I wonder if the m3's strength is the launch? how do they get same 0-60 as our time is beyond me from the races I have had. Carrerras are easy prey too but watch out for the those TURBO's . Damn I want that car bad.

That's cool about the M3 races. I always see them posting quicker numbers in the mags. Anybody messed around with the early C5 vettes? They should pull slightly on a C32 but I'd like to see a first hand account.

Kevin,
No personal experience with a c5 vette but I would think that the c32 can take them.
The m3 does have the advantage on the launch I think because of its M differential and less torque to deal with. |

i raced 97 porsche convertable, fixed up beetle with new engine with turbo, CRX, TL, IS300, e46 325 ci, w208 CLK 320, and w203 C320 after my sound system and 19inch rims...and i won..hehe
and i also raced 97 viper...and 2003 corvett z06 50years aniversary...i got owned.....viper left me in the dust...i felt like my car was parked and he just bone out....and same thing with z06...notthing i can really do to those illiterate, ugly, pointlessly powerful, and pointlessly big egine to pull that power american cars... also raced my friend's w209 CLK 55 amg after all the mods..and i lost pretty bad.... i guess its TIME FOR ME TO GET SOME ENGINE MODS

Here's a funny Ill never forget
First night I have the car, I was driving in the Univ of Fla area. Lots of modified cars on the streets, it was quite nice.
I pull up to a light, there is a older A4 1.8 next to me. Reving his engine, definetly chipped and exhausted from the sound. I ignore him. Green light, he floors it to the next light (30 yards away). Deja Vu, hes reving, I did not look over. Green light, he nails it. Gets caught at the next light. This time I look over because hes annoying me. Its on. Green light. I give him the jump. Im on the gas but whats this? Hes pulling on me! At about 30 I start pulling him in and began passing him at 45 area, before I knew it, its a red light again. So he beat me! What just happened? new c32 VS. maybe a ~200 hp 1.8t. I had no idea until I hit the highway and looked down at the shifter...I was in "W" DOH! At least I took one for boosting his ego. How nice of me. |

racing
We need folks to start getting G-Tech Comp's or other "performance meters" that can output to PC. I've got one and have run it on my C32 and my 996TT and plan to run it on my 300ZX ASAP. It has really cool time vs. speed graphs, time vs. rpms, etc., and you can overlay up to 4 cars at once for comparisons. I did this with my C32 (launched from 1500rpm) and 996TT (idle start, no launch), and they were almost identical to 60. I did get a crappy 1-2 shift in the 911, which was probably .2-.3 sec. wasted. But after 60 the 911's curve just takes off compared to C32. C32 0-100 = 12.2 sec, 996 0-100 = 10.
Anyway, back to the original topic. M3's do seem to be easy prey from any roll. Not even closes: TL type-S (what's wrong with these guys?), G35 coupe, Maxima, Mustang GT, 350Z Closer but C32 still clearly faster: M3, C43, 911 As far as the turbo goes, no one will race me!!

Our car do look intimidating
, even some local V8 and turbo's supra don't want to race my slow C180 (i debadged my car). Well maybe they now and don't want to waste their time :pThis turbo's supra i met in the road just keep cool driving next to me, after he saw a local V8, he gunned it and smoke it .

"Closer but C32 still clearly faster: M3, C43, 911"
I think my c32 is definitely faster (in a straight line) than my 1989 911 and the <1989 Gemballa turbo I had fun against today... But I might possbibly put my money on my 2002 targa
HOWEVER, I definitely would make it a CHEAP wager btw ntguru, what software/hardware are you using?? I think I posted this question a little while back but unfortunately got virtually no responses... I would love to do back-to-back runs with a few cars and compare. TIA lap |

Thats true the 1.8 could have been a stage 3 car. about 300hp.
But leaving ESP on and W would make a difference. Dont you think its a disadvantage to launch your car in 2nd GEAR!?

W vs S
If you have your car in W mode and floor it (from a low enough speed to make 1st possible of course) it will kick down to 1st.
In response to lap: I am using the G-Tech competition. The lower end version doesn't have the serial port to allow computer link up. I use the latest version of G-Tech pass (a free download from their website) and the absolute latest version of their firmware. I had trouble getting older versions to work right on my Windows 2000 Pro and emailed them and they sent me the unreleased newest version of the firmware. I haven't used any of the other competing products but I am happy with the G-Tech. I tried to attach a graph of one of my C32 (launch) vs 996TT (idle) races. I'll get a better one up here soon. The road was wet that day, and the rears on my turbo were literally bald so I had serious traction issues on start and on every shift. On a dry road I can consistently run 0-60 in 5.0 and 1/4 in 13.4@105-106 in the C32. I am picking up the turbo from the dealer with new rears so I will have a good go with it on a dry road. I suspect I can run 0-60 in 4.5 and 1/4 in 12.5. |

ntguru,
Looking at your consistent 12.0's, how in the heck did Autocar get the C32 to 100 MPH in only 10.8 seonds? Those are 400HP/ 480 TQ 1991 Viper RT/10 numbers. Do you think that MB sent that one mag a ringer for some reason? On a side note, what mods do you think you'd need to do to a 'average' C32 to get it to duplicate the Autocar performace? Kevin |

Kevin,
Quite frankly, I'm not sure how they got a 10.8 but I don't think all was on the up and up. Most of the car rags list the C32 0-100 in the 12.0-12.3 range. My car runs only on 93 or 94 octane and has the ECU set accordingly. The 1/4 trap speeds are right where they should be so I am sure my car is putting out the specified HP and TQ. Just FYI, don't always believe the car mags, and remember that they can abuse the cars in ways a real driver wouldn't dream of. A perfect example is the S2000. Most rags list 1/4 mile at 13.8 or thereabouts. Mags list the C32 in the mid 13's, so you'd expect a close race. I raced my friend (me C32, him S2000) from a dead stop and absolutely destroyed him. Not even a race. Of course he wasn't willing to dump the clutch at 7000 RPMs since it's *his* car. |

Autocar is one of the most reputable weekly car mags in Europe.....well respected and not easily taken in by 'specially prepared' road test cars supplied by manufacturers.
These are the figures that they recorded side by side with an M3: MPH SECS 0-30 1.9 0-40 2.7 0-50 3.5 0-60 4.6 0-70 5.9 0-80 7.3 0-90 9.0 0-100 10.8 30-70 3.9 Quarter mile: 13secs/107mph
