"140 277 04 35" solenoid for a [torque converter lockup], MB replaced it with a new #, which is "240 270 17 00",
if you have a problem with an converter lockup steady RPM, this solenoid is the right one to replaced,
do you know if your V/B comes with brown or blue top solenoids....??

Since I don't really know what too look for regarding the converter lockup, I'm a little bit at loss here. My rev counter isn't steady but I have always assumed that it's only some kind of gauge issue, but looking at the Youtube clip, I'm not really sure anymore. But I do have the jerk and also some kind of vibration between 1500-1800 rpms which I believe come from the gearbox, especially when cold
And I don't understand what you mean by "V/B"? But it doesn't really matter since I don't know what colour my solenoid is.

Hi mate,
V/B stand for "valve body", which all solenoids seated in,
honestly; it's hard to figure out about the vibration, many things could cause it,
(pressure sensor/spark plugs/coils/tranny conductor plate/tranny solenoids/bad or not fitted air hose/air temp. sensor),
do you try to diagnose the car, codes is the key for any guesses...?

I have a bit of transient vibration at low rpms too, attributed it to all the abuse caused by the tranny jerk (probably caused early wear-out of u-joints, trans/diff mounts, etc). I figured it's going to be very hard to diagnose but thought I'd start by just crawling under the car and checking for excessive play in any of the shafts and their u-joints.
btw I bought my solenoid from MB of South Atlanta, they have very nice graphics and descriptions to go along with their part numbers that help verify what you're getting, plus they're a dealer so I'd hope (!) that they would have the latest P/N's correct.

I've had the car diagnosed, not with STAR though, and it did not throw any codes.
But I do have the jerk, which is very annoying on its own, so changing the solenoid may be a good idea any way.

Better if you can diagnose the car with STAR/SDS, it's more accurate,
Yes sure, replacing the solenoids is a great idea, but i prefer if you can replace the brown tops to the blues,
then reprogram the TCU, definitely you will love your new ride....

did you replaced yours brown to blue? if yes, how many of them did you replaced? and part #?
I want do do that, but want to get all solenoids at same time before I will drop v/b.
thank you

Hi,
Unfortunately, i couldn't do that with my my W202 C55, cause i have an old version of TCU/EGS51,
but we tried that with my friend 2004 C32, around year ago, replaced all solenoids including "2" blue tops, then reprogram the TCU, shift become better & faster, but with little firm in S mode,
many here done that:-

Anytime bro.,
I prefer to contact "EC or OE tuning or Speed Driven" first, to make sure any of them will tune the car after blue tops installed,
tuning is soo important to give you the exact pressure which blue tops should...

OK this is a great thread. I think we should get all of these part numbers together for future reference I am getting read to do this Saturday and would like some clarity on the solenoid part number.
Below is what I have on hand.
These were purchased from MB of Sacramento and are the part numbers on the receipt.
1x 140-270-11-61 Conductor Plate
8x 001-989-68-13 Transmission Gear Oil
1x 140-271-00-80 Transmission Pan Gasket
1x 140-277-00-95 Transmission Oil Filter
I have not verified these yet
1x 240 270 17 00 TCC PWM solenoid
1x 140-271-00-60 Transmission Drain Plug Seal
1x 140-991-00-55 Transmission Fluid Filler Cap Locking Pin
1x 140-589-15-21-00 Transmission Dipstick tool
optional
1x or 2x 240 270 00 89 Blue Top solenoid

So the only thing left is the correct solenoid part number I think. If anyone can please provide the verified original part number and the updated or "Blue Top" part number it would be great. Also if you can think of anything I am missing please let me know.

Anyone got cliff notes?
There's a lot of technical jargon including a lot of part numbers being thrown around.
My issue is I get the 1-2 (Sport mode) and 2-3 (Winter mode) jerk sporadically like 1/5 times when coming to a stop and then going.
If it helps mine is an 02' SLK32 w/ 115K miles.

When the car is cold it runs great. No more hop from first to second. The problem is when the car gets warm and you get to about 50mph you feel a slight jump. after that if you floor it the rpms increase very slowly and if you hit kick down you get tons of revs but no forward momentum. I think the torque convert is on its way out

As i know changing between cold & warm usually caused by the speed sensor in con. plate, i think you already replace it isn't..?
did you check if oil sneaks to the TCU...??

Anyone know the correct/updated part number for an SLK32? I want to replace the TCC PNW but can't find any info.
Just for those following along the IC pump went south. It really does feel like the TC is shot when that happens. Only difference is that it only does it when the car is hot.
