Just to follow up. I replaced my water pump and all is good now. Trans has no more issues and the car runs like a champ again. Now to work out all the common w203 issues like the blend flap door.

Exactly, this is going to be done on the service visit to my indie wrench. Great news!
frejo, was it in line with the previous pricing estimates?

I also want to add that it is much warmer here in Sweden now and the jerk has always been more of a problem when cold. But as far as I can tell, the jerk has left

My experience was the same, warm meaning either after driving continuously for 15 minutes or outside air temp >65 degF or so when starting out, the jerk was not bad but occasionally slightly noticeable. Replacing this solenoid eliminated the jerk over the entire operating range, cold/warm/various amounts of time after cold start. Have not felt one even tiny torque converter jerk since making the change.

So I called a few Mercedes indy shop here in my area to possibly get a quote for this PWM solenoid replacement and so far no luck. One shop said I'll just have to get a whole new valve body put in and the other shop said that they cant do it because it might need a new software update after replacing it and they don't do updates on the software. I was hoping I didn't have to call the actual dealership but I guess I don't have a choice now.
Anyone that done this before knows if the software needs to be updated after the PWM solenoid installation?

My indy mechanic took the part I brought him, installed it with no software update. It'd be nice if some mechanics learned the phrase "I don't know, let me look it up..."

That what I thought too.. I know there's been a few different part numbers that has been thrown around - what was the part number you bought and you have a C55 as well right?

My P/N was 240 270 16 00, and i have an '04 C32, not the C55. I like mbpartsworld.com for verifying P/N's, they have good blow-up pics of systems that let you see what part you want and where it is, plus of course the P/N itself.

interesting.. the part number I came up with at mbpartsworld.com is 1402770435 - both for a 04 c32 and 05 c55. And to add to the confusion I just got off the phone with a local MB dealership and they said that they can not get just the solenoid and I would have to purchase the whole valve body.
