Does anyone have first hand experience? Which one is better? What's the best buy for the money?

It depends what your consider "best buy". I have used a 181mm pulley from EC for at least 5 years. Also purchased products from NW. Both are super quality vendors. 181mm will give you a bit more boost and does require a tune and cooling mods, and it overdrives other devices (water pump, alternator, etc.) a little more than the 178mm and therefore theoretically makes the car less reliable. But once you start modifying your car, it right away becomes less reliable. 178mm is also constructed differently. It is an OEM pulley with a larger ring and the rubber liner in place. The 181mm is a totally new machined part. When looking at the price, remember that PSK itself is a stand alone part and can be purchased separately.

Is there a huge or significant drop between the 178 and 181? From what ur saying I think I want to go with the 178 from the reliability standpoint and the fact that I can't put in the mods needed for the 181 right away.

The difference in boost and therefore performance is not that significant. The car is already very fast with the OEM setup. It is hard to give advice in this case. I feel that if you are going to mod a supercharged car, cooling improvements are a must. Even with the OEM pulley. So, if you are going to mod the car, figure out what you are after and start buying parts in the right sequence. Have you considered a 65mm SC pulley? Much easier to replace and if needed, restore to OEM setup. You would still need the tune and cooling mods.

If you see a 181mm or a 185mm or a 65mm SC or a 61mm SC pulley in your future, then yes, start by getting a larger Heat Exchanger and consider separating your cooling system. EC used to offer SC pulleys but I don't see them right now. Maybe contact them and inquire or look for a used unit.
