C55 Shorty headers
I recently installed these but also noticed eBay seller shows one pair remaining.

I had to clean up the welds inside the collector with a heavy duty drill and grinding bit. There was a large slice of metal that I knew was going to collect extra heat and eventually crack the weld so it smoothed it out. Other than that they were very nice and not too hard to install. These are the same as the AMS shorty headers that are no longer made... There isn't a lot of C55 items to buy and that list is getting shorter by the day.
As far as power there is definitely added power down low and more power through the whole range. One thing I noticed is the entire power band has also been extended as in more power earlier and later. If you want some more power and a fuller exhaust note but not the full header roar I suggest them.
The picture is from another members dyno run before and after in an SLK55. Each box is "7" so at 2450 they add +15wtq with a peak of +21wtq at 2900rpm tapering to a steady 10+WTQ above 4000rpm and a steady +7-10whp throughout the range with +14WHP at 6000rpm.

It is a bolt on so it is time unbolting the exhaust from the manifold back, unbolting the manifolds, Installing the headers and remounting the exhaust.
There is info in this thread on how to remove/install exhaust and the tools used. https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...or-mounts.html
The headers only require a 1/4 inch ratchet and a 10mm socket with various extensions. I did some tightening from under the car, some from above.

My next exhaust step will be to get new piping front to rear with high flow cats in place of the primary and secondary cats. That will be later this year/early next 2015 though...
This guy has the shorties, stock primaries and high flow secondaries, hoping I end up with a sound close to this: (original MBWorld thread)

Hey Great Job ED. I've been looking into headers but debating on continuing to modify the 55 or jumping into a w204 or w205 C63 in the next year or so. Regardless, this looks like a great option and for much less money than the Kleemann headers.

The shorty header install didn't work how I thought it would. But big ups to C230 Mulac for all the help and taking the video. C55 with only headers and no exhaust.

very interested in seeing how well they hold up. I've been reading they crack prematurely.
