Removing Interior Trim/Molding Pieces
Hi guys,
I want to install some of that 3M "carbon fiber" vinyl to my interior trim pieces, including the piece that's next to the interior door handle and I'm having trouble figuring out how to remove that piece. I took the door panel off and it looks like that trim piece is held in by four pins. I have no idea how they work to hold on the trim piece.
Does anyone have any idea how to get these things off? I'm attaching a picture of one of the pins. Any help is appreciated!

Hey ez, the best way I've found is to use a pair of needle nose pliers. Put the tips of the pliers in the gaps on either side of the clip and squeeze lightly. The gaps on either side narrow slightly the closer you get to the center so the pliers will make the teeth spread just enough to pull the clip off the post.
Let me know if you need a pic and good luck

Awesome, thanks dre. Really appreciate it. I can see how that would work. I'll try it out in the next week or so as soon as my 3M vinyl comes and update the thread!

I'm about to do the exact same thing! I'm still debating carbon fibre or gloss or matt black. I'm thinking the cf might look weird with that other silver/black trim in the center console and around the power window switches.

it actually worked better than i expected it to! you just have the be very patient. i got a really small flathead screwdriver and pried up on the brass fittings and that allowed my needlenose pliers to actually grab onto the fitting enough so that i could remove it. once you do the first, the rest are not too bad. just be patient and when you have removed the brass part almost to the end of the shaft, slightly let off on the pressure so that you dont fold the brass part in two. that happened to me a couple of times but i flattened it back on by just clamping the crease on both sides with my pliers.
if anyone has any more questions about it, just ask! it really isn't too difficult, just be patient with it
