C55 AMG lose ATF liquid
#3
Hi
If the leak is coming from the steering rack, there is a repair kit available from dealer. However, if you have play on the rack I suggest a new rack.
I see ATF fluid on the thrust arm, is it not coming from the banjo bolts at power steering pump?

I can't really tell where the leak is from your photos, but you're taking photos of an area far too forward to be a leaky trans I think.
Do you have any looseness in the steering when turning? The rack can go bad and it's $$ to replace. I managed to find a used one for just over $100, but a remanufactured one is around $600.

With the friendly mechanic checked the bellows and the loss of liquid is out there (ATF).
I think the 245 35 R18 tires installed by the previous owner upgraded the account to steering rack. I'll have to replace them with 225 40 R18.

+1, it will exponentially grow in terms of $$$$ if you don't get it fixed, may feel like a lot of $ right now, but later on it will be more like $$$$

If you need a C55 AMG Steering Rack, I have a perfectly good OE one from my '05 C55. I changed it for the CLK BS Steering Rack at about 80k miles.
