I also found that making a template withe new water pump and cuting holse to place the bolts as you remove them made the re-installation much easier.

ah yes! Thanks for reminding me

I just had the new pump set in the box and would stick the bolts in each hole as I pulled them out. When the old pump was out, I moved the bolts over into the new pump to keep the locations. Same idea, two different methods. Definitely necessary as the bolts are several different lengths.

Sorry for the multiple posts but I keep remembering things...

While you're at it, you should replace the water pump pulley as well, and might as well do the idler pulley and drive belt if you haven't replaced them recently.

Good thread guys very helpful just as I was having to figure out all this.

Hey mate... Its taken ages. The ebay seller used that ****ty eBay international post service. It took about 2 weeks just to leave the USA. It's still bouncing around AUS post. I'll let you know what my indie says when I get it in to him. He had a look at the eBay ad and said it looked like the right one.

Water pump arrived yesterday. Getting it to my indie tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully cleans up the annoying take I've been hearing in the cabin.

Just curious what is indie charging for the labor? I replaced mine 2 weeks ago and it was such a PITA.

Generally charges by the hour and I'm getting a few other things done. I'm in AUS so our labor rates differ from yours but most indies charge between $90-120 per hour. Benz charges $210. I'll probably end up with a $600 bill after he does the radiator and pump and checks a few things.

Ordered a pump and pullies

Ihunted Oz for a pump and found one with th 00 part # at MB for $520 or so. I gave up and ordered the 3 outlet one and a thermostat from RMEuro along with some pullies and other bits. Getting that #4 idler pulley from other than MB is hell as well. They cant seem to supply them with the correct ( free running) bearing consistantly( i had to explain to them that not only was the part the wrong one in the box (right part # on the box ) but the bearing was not the same as the one in the catalogue and which we looked at at the counter in the sample pulley the day before). The guy then phoned snd ordered the wrong part # so i sorted that and went home to drink beer.
Ill be fitting the water pump myself since I dont trust anyone in this part of the world
when it comes to this car now.

Hey jackg what part of AUS you in? The place I take mine seems pretty good. Services a few other c32s as well. But o know what you mean. Before I found this place I struggled to trust anyone especially seeing how uncommon the c32 is here.

Feedback: the cardone pump fits fine... Went in 30 minutes ago

Right now I need to find out why the "coolant visit workshop" code is on which is what i guess has caused the fan to run whenever the engine is running, since the temp is all normal all across the systems.

Ah that's too bad I'm in Melbourne. I'd try either find a Benz specialist whose worked on the c32 or a performance workshop.

Just got the car back... Water pump and behr went in without a problem.
