C55 fender compatibility with W209 CLK55
Hey guys,
I recently bought 05 C55 AMG with front damage. I need to change the passenger side fender. I brought regular C class fender which was about 9cm shorter than the driver side fender. I found out then that all front end part numbers read 209 and understood the front parts are of W209 CLK. Then I took regular CLK fender which was of same length but still didn't fit, because the fender part where it touches the door was of somewhat different shape and the mounting spots where in different places. So I was thinking that CLK55 AMG has a unique fender, unlike any other W209 that should be the one that fits C55. The local Mercedes Benz center says there is no way for CLK part to fit C55.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

Forum member PC Valkyrie had a very good post years back comparing the differences between the C32 and C55. The C55's front end bodywork is from a CLK:

I suppose your local dealer can be forgiven for stating that the CLK parts won't fit - there were very few C55s made after all.
I don't think I have access currently, but if you look up the C55 or the 209 CLK55 on the Mercedes electronic parts catalogue, you should be able to determine cross referencing the CLK parts. If you can't access (it requires a US based credit card), perhaps try car-part.com, there is a lot of good cross referencing data available there too.

I have no first hand experience, but I thought I remember reading that the fenders were the same, but the inner fender body frames were different. Just throwing it out there.

Sign up for free (you have to put in your credit card, but it's a $0 charge)
Then put in your VIN and start searching for the fenders (it'll take you a while to learn the system). Eventually you'll find the part number for your car's fender.
From there grab the VIN from a CLK (say, take the VIN from someone's posting on Autotrader or Ebay) and do the same to find the fender part number. Then you'll know if they're the same or not.
