Original spare tire still good 13yrs later?
In 9 years of owning my c32 I never had a need to check the spare in the trunk aside from a quick glance to make sure there was a spare when I bought the car in 2006.
out of curiousity tonight I opened up the trunk and wanted to check if the spare was a full size tire and was pleasantly surprised to see a Michelin pilot sport tire brand new in there.
Any concerns with using a tire that old (although still new condition) and installing it as a permanent tire matches it up with 3 other new Michelin pilot sports that I am planing to buy???
Assume the rubber doesn't go bad sitting in the trunk....

Probably it's the original spare tire. Google up how to read the date codes stamped into the tire sidewall so you know for sure how old it is. You don't want to use a tire that is more than 6-7 years old. Over the years I have read several stories of older MBs that were totaled when an old spare was put into service and failed at speed a few miles down the road.
If you haven't checked the air pressure in the last 9 years, the spare is flat by now anyways.
