C55 Headlight problems

Gents,

My headlights are giving me some problems, both headlights turn on fine when I first turn on the car but shortly after (usually after hitting any small bump on the road or pothole) the lights flicker and go out. The high beams are fine, its the low beams that are the issue, specifically the golf ball looking part.

My car does not have the halogen headlights, however I am unsure if it has HID's, xenons or Bi-xenons - does anyone know how to tell without having a VIN report?

I would like to confirm what the issue is and the least costly fix. To my knowledge it is due to a faulty ballast, which I believe is the part that controls the auto leveling when the highlights first turn on. Can anyone confirm this? Can ballasts be fixed? If not, is replacing the ballasts a simple and reliable job? Also, is anyone selling a set of C55/CLK headlights, if not where can I get a reasonably priced set?

I know there's a lot of questions in here but your detailed responses and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

its either HID or halogen...if its flickering then its the ballast or bulb

ebay has them for $100-150 a piece...driver side is a pain as you have to remove part of the bumper and then remove the entire headlight...passenger is cake, just lift the car remove the wheel and the liner and unscrew it...T-20 if i remember correclty
