2005 c55 106k won't start.
So after a 100 mile trip to my grandmothers house car sat for a few hours and drove to store maybe 3 mile and on the way back. A spirited blast from about 20 to 80 full throttle then about a mile back to the house. Shut the car down and about another 3 mins later try to start the car back and it wouldn't. Car sat for about 20 mins and started but then shut off. Started once more after a cool down period but before I could put it in Drive it killed and wouldn't start. Had two autozone cps in trunk replaced and tired both and car still won't start. throwing a cel but stranded with no code grabber. Tow trucks giving BS story of Tuesday before they can tow so order code grabber should be here Monday. Anybody any ideas? :

Hello there.
I can try to help you.
Hmm... From what I understand the engine will crank (run the starter) but has problem to ignite and run, and once it dose it dies soon after. The first thing I'd like to do is to check the fuel pressure, either with the right tools (a gauge) or you can simply try to spray some starter spray into the airfilter, if it starts and runs but stops when you stop spraying, then it could be the fuel pressure (fuel pump) which I am pretty sure you only got one feeding pump, in the left fuel tank (but i rather let that be unsaid cause I'm unsure about the year model).
You can also try to hear if the pump starts when you turn on the ignition (OH and remember that it might not even suppose tooOO! So this can give you false leads) Check fuel pump fuse.
If you are a daring guy, you can also take alot of paper and simply remove the fuel line while switching on the ignition (can even be that you need to crank the engine for the fuel to feed). I'd say that the return line would be the best place to check, cause then you know that the fuel system runs smooth.
I don't really wanna skip ahead before you are certain that you got fuel pressure. "Code grabber", then you mean that you will read out the error codes of the ECM? That might give us some valid info.
Best of luck

2005 c55 is the year model. The fuel pump does purge when the ignition is turn on. from the smell of the exhaust when I try to start for prolonged amounts of time I smell fuel. So the pump is working.

Did it try to crank or wouldn't crank at all? When my battery was going in my car, it would try to crank but didn't have enough juice to start it. When the car was cold though it would start up; only after I've been driving it a while I had issues.

sorry so long guys had to leave it to fly a mission. Well bosch cps did it. Started right up but the tail lights, left side mirror signal light and start are acting up. So ready for some trouble shooting. Thanks for all the help.

FYI, when replacing the battery, the sunroof usually won't work right just after until you take it completely through its entire range of motions. Doubtful your new issues are along those lines, but the CANBUS in these can get confused from time to time. Maybe some kind of reset is the answer if these did in factt just pop up?
