Search for a buyers giude on these cars on what to look out for.
Pro: it's a bargain AMG
Con: it's getting a little old, so it won't have Bluetooth or backup cameras, and unless you're a good DIY wrench the maintainence can be costly.
Coming from a C43 you already know most of what you need to know.

C55 AMG
I can speak to the C55. It's been my first Mercedes and I have to say it's a fantastic car. I've had a pretty extensive list of modified cars and this car stock meets a lot of the expectations I had. For me it's a daily driver for the days I have to go to the office. Luckily I found this car at a Mercedes dealer, 1 owner and had 100% complete maintenance history having all of the higher mileage components replaced before I purchased. Some things to be aware of is the motor mounts, as these go out around 80k and cause a lot of weird vibrations and sounds. Transmission was fully serviced as well among other things. So far I have had to replace the fuel sending unit because Mercedes in their genius design the $400 sending unit with a built in $10 pressure sensor that likes to go out. I did a ton of research and found a newer model c55 that had a redesigned sending unit that had a replaceable pressure sensor, much like the Eseries design.

Overall I'm quite happy by the power and performance as well as reliability, but I'm still dreaming of a c63 AMG or engine swapping the c55 with the e55 m113k engine

2015 E350 4 matis, 2003- 911 porsche
I have had the following AMG C36, E55 and am on my 2nd C55. They are about the best all around, speed, comfortable, 4 door machine made around 2005. They are fairly easy to maintain and once the 100,000 mile service of plugs, gaskets, wires, hoses, fluids changed. Also suspension parts replaced around the same miles. It will run another 100,000. Great machines, easy to maintain if you have basic ability and this website. The interiors hold up real well if they have had the good leather treatments applied.
Thanks
John
