I seem to remember it is a case of removing the belt, hoses, draining the fluid, unbolting the old pump, installing the new one, hoses and belt. To bleed the system you raise the front wheels off the ground and turn the steering wheel from full lock to the other way full lock. Fill up the reservoir intermittently while doing this. I just bought MB fluid since it is somewhat cheap and you don't need more than 1-2 litres.

The manual doesn't say you have to lift the wheels off the ground but it does say to start the engine and turn the wheel from lock to lock but not to hold it in the extreme position on either side and fill until it level remains steady. You shouldn't have any bubbles in the fluid.

I have done this when my power steering hose burst on holiday. I can't imagine not jacking up the front of the car.

Oh, I would lift the front to do this, just saying you don't HAVE to. LOL

While getting the air out, the compression of the air makes the power steering nearly useless, making it extremely difficult to turn the wheel, and you also hear the pump groaning. definitely recommend putting the car up so it's easy to turn the wheel
