"High-mileage" C43, is it worth it?
I am concidering a C43 with 120k on the clock. Acording to carfax, the car has had only one owner, no accidents or damage, and meticulous maintenence records. Its at a reputable dealership, and ive looked over there high-res interior and exterior picts, and every thing is spotless. There asking $8,000, is it worth looking at?

See if the dealere would provide you with, a...hmmm can't think of the name. It's a detail report of work that has been performed by all MBZ dealers. See if the tranny has ever been serviced or replaced. Make sure it has decent front rotors and the 02 sensors have been replaced. Ensure that it's bone dry underneat ...have fun!!

check the (vmi) vehicle master inquiry like previously stated. it will show the trans serial number, on the vmi it will show every warranty repair done, when and at what dealer, if it had extended starmark warranty it will show that as well and all additional repairs done after the standard 4year/50k warranty. if the trans serial number matches the vmi it is the original and it will soon stop working. very expensive to repair or replace and it will have the older style valve body very bady 1-2 shift quality. you can also check the trans adaption if any of the shifts show positive 180 it has reached max adjustment. sorry for all the info but the biggest repairs on these cars are rotors, and transmissions and it is a guarantee they will both be replaced at some point. i have a client with 285,000 on his still pulls hard 110,000 miles first trans, 170,000 on second trans with updated internals and fluid changes every 30k to 50k.

nope no major repairs to engine(internal) he is religious with maintenance and he also does an in between service. change oil between A and B services. in all my years at the dealer only replaced a hand full of fitted short blocks and that was for scoring of cylinder walls and excessive oil consumption. sorry to get off topic a little.
