UPDATE:

THE RESULTS ARE IN ON THE EVOSPORT UD PULLEY KIT!!!

Click the image to open in full size.

The red line was the stock base line run and the blue line is after the Evosport UD pulley kit was installed. The temperature was 84° (4° cooler than the base line run) and the humidity was 13% (2% higher than the base line run)

Here is the kicker:
We made 6 runs (just like the base line), the first 3 pulls I consistently made numbers that were lower then the baseline. This didn't seem right to me as the car rev'd quicker and felt like it had more oomph behind it. The dyno operator suggested we try the ECU reset and that's when it hit me, the damn adaptive software... When I ran the base line I had made sure to do the ECU reset and then drove like a mad man to the dyno run. This run I had driven like a grandma during rush hour traffic on the way to the dyno run. Now I questioned if the adaptive software might be the culprit. To ensure that the ECU reset worked we decided disconnecting the battery would be the only way we could ensure that the reset was successful. After disconnecting the battery and waiting a while we tried the run again with MUCH different results. Prior to disconnecting the battery I was making 230RWHP peak after the disconnect I ran 240+ all 3 runs with 244HP and 246 TQ for a gain of 5HP and 16TQ from the base line!!!

It is odd to see that you actually lose power below 3000 RPM because it is doesn't feel like it but it definitely feels quicker and more powerful

What do you think is happening at ~4400 RPMs?

Rather weird as I would have thought that with the cams coming on song at 4000 rpm, you would get a power curve going higher from then on up to the peak power point . That what most of us feel in our pants when the engine reaches and goes over the 4000 rpm point

This is cool that you are doing this. Congrats on the gain.

However, I would not quote the 16tq as gain. That was a spike, happens at times on dynos. Real peak torque was about 239wtq. Still 9wtq is a decent gain for an ud pulley.

Here is another example of a torque spike on my 02 Trans Am, a little less subtle.

Click the image to open in full size.

Actual torque was right at 342wtq not the 393.

Yeah, these are just numbers. The only reason I am posting them was to remove the smoke and mirrors and prove whether or not there are gains to be had. There is no doubt in my mind that the UD pulley kit adds more power as well as REV's quicker. Any doubt on this one can be put to rest...

* Next up Phenolic spacers

UPDATE:

I am WAY behind on my original schedule but I have been SUPER busy. The good news is I had a member contact me with some of the Evosport phenolic spacers that are brand new in the box that he had not gotten around to installing. Needless to say I made him an offer and he accepted. Not being on schedule just saved me $100

I will be scheduling an appointment to have the phenolic spacers installed as soon as I receive them. I should have them installed by the end of this month and then it's back on the dyno so we can see if there were any gains

I will post the results as soon as I have them

* Next up:
Kleemann headers, X pipe, high flow cats

I'll be honest, I'm looking forward to the kleeman headers the most. I'm EXPECTING to see 20-30whp without a retune, because apparently the m113 oem manifolds are crap.

I also applaud you for pioneering the dynos for each of these mods for proof of power gains/losses!

I agree, the exhaust is the mod I am expecting the most out of followed by the ECU tune. I am truly not expecting much from the spacers besides the cooler manifold but it will be interesting to see the dyno as I have read that I will gain power and I have read that I may lose power, either way we will have proof.

My goal is 280+ RWHP out of the 43 motor, I should have pretty much every bolt on mod out there for the 4.2 M113 when I have finished.

How much are the Kleeman headers? Are you going to retain all 4 cats, 503? You list "metal cats" what is your current plan of attack on exhaust? Are you going to do ecu tuning at the same time?

Kleemann headers = $1500 new

The Kleemann headers eliminate the primary cats so I will be using high flow 300 cell metal cats (metal cat is a brand) where the secondaries were and will extend the O2 sensor to prevent a CEL.

I will be getting an ECU tune from Eurocharged after the exhaust is installed. I have already contacted Jerry @ Eurocharged and they have a dongle that connects your laptop to your ECU and Jerry will tune you ECU over the internet (technology is a wonderful thing ) for $600

I was planning on being done with the exhaust by the end of September but it looks like its going to be more towards the end of November...

Amazes me how much money people are willing to spend to gain so damn little. And then not even autocross or track the car.

How much time have I spent on the track??? What are my future plans for my car??? Oh that's right you are not me nor do you know me and so you have no clue if I have seen track time OR if I plan on tracking my car in the future....

I have said this in the past and I will say it again, jumph4x if you have nothing positive to contribute please do not post in my threads...

UPDATE:

My Phenolic spacers should be here on Monday I am in the middle of scheduling the install.

GREAT NEWS:

Guess who just worked a deal for some SUPER cheap headers (about 1/3 of the usual price) brand new in the box directly from Kleemann, already ordered and paid. Cory says they should be in here in 3 business days

My original plan was to finish stage 3 by the end of November so I may be able to get back on track seeing how I just purchased the most expensive item in my stage 3 package, now all I need is to get the headers swain coated, an X pipe, and the metal cats. I am going to order the X pipe today, I am planning on going with the magnaflow unless someone has any better suggestions.

wayyyyyyyyyyyy to go Jason

was there a special deal on Kleeman headers?
1/3 of the price, how many bux did you have to pay for it and what is the full price?

do you get the headers from Denmark?

only changing headers, do you get any better breathing and HP gain?

Kleeman headers and removing centre silencer replicing with a straight tube must give better performance??
What about backpreassure from the exhaust, good or worse?

No way.

Can you hook us up with a group buy? There are a decent number of us willing to throw down for Kleeman Headers if they can shoot us that price you got.

P.S. what price did you get it for (if you don't mind)? lol

Kleemann was offering deals on a bunch of different headers so I PM'd Cory @ Kleemann to see if they were offering deals on the C43 headers. He PM'd me back saying that the last batch of C43 headers were made incorrectly and 1 of the pipes is about 1.5" too short. He offered them to me for $600 + shipping, I contacted my exhaust guy and he assures me he can fix the headers good as new for $200 so for $636 ($36 for shipping) I got a set of Kleemann headers and after I get the pipe extended I will be into them for $836, a far cry from the $1500 they are asking. I asked Cory if there were any more sets and he told me he thought that he had 6 more sets on the shelves, if any of you are interested I suggest PMing Cory @ Kleemann.

Headers are shipping out from Cory in Colorado I would suspect

As far as your other questions I am going to do my exhaust much like I did my suspension, I will gather ALL of the parts and then have them all installed at the same time but I am sure that just adding the Kleemann headers by them selves you would see at least 20 RWHP increase never mind with the X pipe, high flow cats, and ECU tune.

Shooting for 280+ RWHP when I am finished

Next year is a different story.
New $$$$ and new mods.
