Your opinion please

I am in the process of changing valve cover gaskets. At the same time, cleaned the breather tanks (no sludge or other crap inside ). Not yet decided which color to choose, so I painted one silver and one black. What are your opinions and which color should I choose? Ignition coils are black, spark plug wires are red with black caps (Magnecor KV85 kit).
So..... which one??

mine are red and I tend to have them the same color as my calipers. But in your case I would pick silver. BTW I don't about you but Mine are powdercoated you may want to do the same. Are you set on black or silver? what about green, orange, red or blue? Thats just my two cents.

BLACK!

If you paint them silver then everything else that is bare metal on your motor will look dirty.

Black it will be and it is also the color favored by the missus. I agree with your comment that if painted silver, it will make the rest of the engine look very dirty (which it isn't) but the alu has tarnished over the years

Decades ago, I remember stories where engines painted silver would overheat.
I know that silver paint tends to reflect heat away, so I painted my Boss 302 starter with silver paint that had custom headers wrapping around it in a 1971 Pinto that I built in 1975 (and preparing to sell). I never needed to replace the starter.

Although the radiation of painted engine parts may not have much difference from non painted, apparently the color does have some effect, and black being the best due to "black-body radiation".

I'm sure it will look great! Please show us finished photos with and without the air box. Thank you.

Not shiny black but more a discrete satin black (high temp 800°c) With the red intake that should make a great contrast

Wow, that IS something special... Nice intake but it seemed you needed to move the header tank to the other side to make it fit. What happened to the screen washer tank?

The engine cooling heater tank which normally sits on the right of the engine. In the pictures it is on the left in place of the washer tank

Now that's weird indeed. Was the air intake installed by you or did you purchase the car like that? That could explain the relocation of the expansion tank.
