EGR Hoses

My C43 had P401 error code and after I cleaned the return line (it was 100% clogged), I now have P400. I found some vacuum leaks, which I'm now working on. I just need to clarify a disc that's connnected to the electrical connector for the EGR valve via a hose. Is it just to sense the pressure in the engine bay or should it be connected to something?

Thanks in advance.

This piece is like a breath & filterize for the EGR out-put,, and this piece is NOT connected to anything, just keep it flying......

This makes me happy! Just cleaned my egr valve (99 e320), and when I took the valve off, I thought this got disconnected, but couldn't find a place to hook it back up to.
Put everything back together, car ran fine, and went to the MB shop to ask what it was. The anwser: Huhhh???

Thanks!!
