Track Day Vids
HI All,
I Haven't been around here for a while, Been a bit too busy unfortunately.
Thought you'd like to see some new track day vids, especially now I've got some decent audio thanks to a new Mic.
Now for the challenge......Your thoughts on the cause of the squatting onto the RHR tyre on the turn into 7 (just after I go under the bridge), doesn't do it on other left handers except for turn 7 and it goes pretty quickly to oversteer at times.

Nice quality video and good conscious driving as well. You car sounds good, what kind of setup do you have? For some reason I feel it sounds a bit more 'rumbly' than mine being decatted (secondaries) and resonator less. Cheers!

I've only got the resonator removed, all cats are still in place. I placed a wired mic just behind the rear bar near the boot lid so I could get the sound without the wind noise. It probably sounds a little more "rumbly" because it's so close the the exhaust.

hard to tell from the video, but is turn 7 a downhill grade? it also looks like the highest speed left hander. if so, you need to mash the gas to keep the weight on the rear end of the car, otherwise weight goes to the fronts and you lose rear end grip.

It's not the quickest turn, turn 1 is (100mph apex), turn 7 is about 60-70mph apex.
You can actually feel it squat down on the RHR before it goes into a bit of oversteer. Unfortunately not the place I would try giving it too much throttle as it's the point on the circuit I'm closest to the walls

Thanks for the vid. Is that the same track that the Australia Special for Top Gear UK was filmed at?

yea, of the 3 tracks withing a couple hours of where i live this one is my favorite, lots of interesting areas on it.
hard to tell in the video where the real crazy areas are, but there are some spots that are quite exciting when you are in the car.
- 0:04 the little dip there is crazy, if yu take the right line through it you can go full throttle through there at about 68mph (you can see my speedo each time i go through) the faster through there the more jostling it is, the suspension will bottom out.
- 0:09 tons of g force there using all of the track at full throttle as you exit. all 3500 lbs of the car wanting to slide off the track
- 0:53 again crazy amount of G-Force there, have to drive the track a few times to know how much you can push there, need to use all of the track.
- 1:01 the JUMP have to watch some of the laps where i go faster through there to get an idea, got 2 rear wheels off the ground a few times that day... pic below to prove it.
-- 1:23-1:28 the craziest part of this track, going full throttle through there around 80mph, full G-force feels like the car wants to just roll off the track into those trees have to work up the courage to go through there full throttle, then followed by stomping on the brakes for the hairpin. can tell thats where i gain about 3-4 car lengths on the boxster there by braking hard and late.

Whatever is the factory recommended, it was flushed prior to me buying the car, ive put about 17,000 miles on the car the past 2.5 years.
ive done 6 track days with the car now over 3 summers and probably 40 autocross events putting plenty of stress on the tranny (compared to normal driving) and doing lots of the manual shifting and have not had any issues to this point.
May 9th im doing a track day at road america
will have some video and will try to post on here after. any guesses to what top speed the car will hit on the straight? i was hitting 118 on the straight at Grattan :-)
