Suspension Upgrade Advice
Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my suspension, and I've a dilemma, I can either go with Koni Yellows, and Vogtland springs, which I know many of you guys have, or go with KW V2 coilovers, which I know many of you don't have. The price difference is about $400 dollars which isn't much so if any of you have any advice on this matter. I'm not looking to make this car a track monster or anything, but something with a nice tight feeling, and something that is competent on the canyons with cars like E36 M3's and the like.

H&R plus bilstein wont do for what you want....i have that setup and ive spent many nights running down canyons. I doubt konis and vogtlands would be any different.
If money is not an issue definetly do kws. There is a member here with that setup.
Have you looked into H&R cup kit? Ive driven in a 202 on a track with a cup kit installed and its much more stable then my setup was.
Btw deleting your sunroof will help a lot when cornering

Wow now that's the kind of helpful reply that makes this forum great, I haven't looked at the h&r cup kit, mostly because I've always heard stories about h&r springs sagging, obviously I don't know if that's the case with the cup kit, but I'll definitely look into it.
As for deleting my sunroof, I don't think I'm looking to make it that great of an handling car, besides I really enjoy my sunroof

KW is king. If there wasn't usually such a price difference between springs + shocks (whether Vogtland, H&R, Eibach, whatever) and the KW kit I'm sure a lot more of us would be running them. Can't beat the quality and adjustability. But I'm super happy with my Vogtlands + Koni Yellows. I don't think you can go wrong here, but the KW is superior. It's just up to you whether it's worth the money or not

Hi RobertM27,
I can vouch for the KW suspension. I wouldn't want anything else, not unless I could get custom suspension parts. The nice thing about the KW's is that the suspension is fully adjustable (height) front an back. The shocks also but only on rebound. Plenty of info in my thread under my signature https://mbworld.org/forums/c36-amg-c...g-wake-up.html
If you are going to do the upgrade yourself, I would strongly recommend you use the appropriate spring compressing tool. Springs are very nasty pieces of equipment which can cause very serious injuries, or more, should a spring pop out when you are working on them. I nearly wiped off my thumb when removing a spring

Itself clear around until both compressors were on one side of the spring and the spring was bulging outward and there was a brown stain in my pants. What sucked even more was having to get back in there and loosen the compressors with it like that. The compressor is a lot cheaper than personal injury.

I wanted to ask how easy are the adjustments? How long does a typical adjustment take?
I'm now almost 100% sure I'm getting the KW's, but I just love finding out all the little bits of information I can before I purchase something worth so much.

Well my friend had a Tirerack wholesale account which had the KW at around 1300, but I checked again and they have taken them down. I'll have to call and see what happened, but as of right now the regular retail price ($2100) is a little out of my budget

A pity because the passenger and camera man was really being thrown around. A stable camera support would have been great

I agree lol, will see what I can do next time. It's hard to get the speed in a realistic way on camera, however I can tell you guys there is about zero bodyroll. On this type of roads I am able to hang with an E46 m3

If you wanna push your car hard, vogtland, bilstein, konu
I, h&r, and non enof that crap will do.
If you wanna do canyon runs(which you shouldnt do anyway
Then itll be just fine.
sometimes a car with a bit of roll can be more fun...

Thanks for all the advice guys, I think I'm gunna put the modifications on hold, until either I find the KW's for cheaper, or until their retail price doesn't hurt my pocket as much. I'm already on euro springs so at least it doesn't look like monster truck, plus a tune and secondary/resonator delete. I think I'm just going to focus on reaching the limit with what I have now. I still have some ways to go in terms of fully mastering the car, so I'll work on myself first, then later the suspension and 5.5 swap will come

In the meantime I think we should turn this thread into a video request thread. If anyone wants sound clips, canyon run videos, or anything for that matter, I could easily get it done for them. I will be posting my canyon run videos that I did recently in Mexico.

Agreed I think we should have a video thread as we have a picture thread. C43 and C36 videos are rare enough online and sometimes very bad quality. We should get it pined at the top with the other threads. I can't remember the title of it but there was one with a couple great videos taken (intake, exhaust, etc.) with an external mic. This could be a good start.
