C43 Keep or lose it?
Hey guys, just wanted to update, I have my C43 AMG Clean and I was rear ended on 10/31 (talk about luck).
Any who I was rear end and pushed into another car. (Minor front end) though the rear is is in bad shape, but still repairable. So I know I always have loved this car, and all the money I threw into it is on limbo (kind of) .
So I need some advice and help. The insurance co (F@m3rs) was the insured honda that hit me, they decided to totale the car since car was a little bit over the value of the car. I am truly pissed.
But heres the thing, I can either keep the car and *possibly* may or may not get the salvage title and fix it on my own, or just let it go (Disney) and keep the money. They still have to re-evaluate the car [150,095 miles, clean interior, options etc), So when they do give me a number, Including the value of the rebuilt transmission upgrade (from the SL600) $2890, Avantgarde grille $790, AMG Scuff plates $450, and Headliner upgrade $300, I should be getting just about $7500-$9000 if i let it go. Keeping it would be less, but it is still on limbo for now. Sucks.
Anyway I need some input on this decision since I have a garage load of serivce parts for this car that goes for 4-6 years down the line including a set of AMG shocks, upper arms, AMG rotors, brakes pads, pulleys, springs, bushings, drag link, spark plugs etc. Maybe like $4000-$5000 in spare parts. So If you guys can give me a big suggestion, what should I do.
I love the C43, and I know it is repairable, so how bad does the Salvage hurt the value on a C43. So any if any of you guys have saved (salvage titles on hand) or no salvage help me decide. I figure I have a topic about it in case it happens to anyone.
Here is one for $3700 with 192k on the clock and salvage.

Love my C43 but I just don't see it going classic. That said, you can always strip it down before turning it over and buying a non-salvage title. Sounds to me like you aren't asking about a C43 with salvage title but you're really asking about giving up your car which you've got a connection to...

sorry about your car, are you ok from this accident?
if you decide to keep the car for very long time, a salvage title is not a big issue for you as you are the only one that knows car is stamped with this title.
when you say you have parts for 5-6 grand it's better for you to keep you car and get it fixed the way you want since you have spent a lot of cash before the accident.
how bad was you accident, do you have any pics from front and rear damage?

Check your states laws. In my state cars over ten years old can't get a salvage title. Mine was totaled and i kept it and repaired. No salvage title. I still love it all the same.

You guys really dont think our amg 202s are not going to be classic in 10 years or so?
These days Mercedes makes the worst cars in automotive history.
I honestly believe now that w202 , w210 will gain value down the road.

Hi Tony, I purchased a salvage title car for a fair price and I love mine. I did drive that black one and it's not indicative of a nice one. It runs well but a lot of interior plastics/buttons are broken/missing and the pass front door pillar is crumpled from the accident. I would value the car in the $3200-3500 range since it needs some work to be nice. Anyway, if you truly enjoy yours and it can be straight again, fix it. If not, let it go. You will be forever bothered by the fact that it's not the same after you poured your hard earned money into it.

Yeah, here the deal, the frame rails both did not crunch/damage, just the rear body panel and floor panel, but repairable. I've already bought parts from FredGTA, one of the members here on the forum nice guy & seller here in North Hollywood and he gave me a deal of a steal on parts, so I now have decided to get it fixed and full paint job. As for the insurance, they offered $7200, and $6400 if i keep it (basically buy back for $800), so yes I am keeping this car. Has too much money vested in it. The car repair hit $7400 so went over by a few hundred. So right now, I have them re-evaluating the car, because of the accessories installed (Avantgarde grille $790, Scuff plates $450, Floor mats $150, AMG Trunk Spoiler $800), and the upgrades (Rebuilt trans $2900, Headliner $350, Engine service overhaul $1600, AMG Wheels respray $600) so they kind of jumped the gun on the car on totaling it. So I may get my $ back for the car investments. But yeah, you have to get them hard, explain to them the parts & actual cash value.

Oh yeah that's nothing. Any half decent shop can pull the back out, and the rest is just replacing bumpers.
But how bad is the front bumper? Fixable? C43 fronts are getting crazy hard to find

Not entirely true! I purchased a brand new genuine C43 front clip from genuinemercedesparts.com and they brought it in from Germany. It was $762 USD (paid by insurance company). They informed me that they are readily available.
